fathom
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) Really? We haven't been facing the likes of Verlander or Greinke yet and we still look like a single A offense. No kidding, guys like Baker and Blackburn aren't much different than Randy Wells, etc. Our current lineup is too weak to just destroy crappy pitching, like we used to do in 2006. fathom
Truth be told, Gorzelanny looked filthy on Sunday. Hopefully Silva reverts back to form though.

Silva I agree with you on (but watch the awful NL make him into a serviceable starter), but Gorzelanny is healthy again and throwing significantly harder than he was when hurt with the Pirates. Gorzelanny should make a pretty decent 5th starter when Lilly returns.

Gorzelanny should make a pretty decent 5th starter when Lilly returns. I agree. I've always liked Gorzelanny. He'll be a decent 5th starter. I would assume Silva becomes the long man when they get Lilly back.
SoxAce
QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) I agree. I've always liked Gorzelanny. He'll be a decent 5th starter. One of the few cats I like on the Cubs. He is a HUGE white sox fan. BTW, Randy Wells is seriously underrated as a pitcher.
southsider2k5
I wonder how many non-pitcher $100 million players have been double-switched out of a game that wasn't a blow out?
Jordan4life_2007
I'm surprised it took this long (9 days?) for fathom to start his yearly Cubs slurping.
SoxFan562004
If the Cards stay relatively healthy, they run away with this division, the other teams aren't even close IMO. I know that's stating the obvious, but the Brewers and Cubs BPs are horrible (I would give the edge to the Cubs simply because of Marmol), but if the Cubs starters aren't going to go 7-8 consistently, they will struggle to win this year

daa84
how is jeff suppan still employed? 89 fastball right down the pipe on the first pitch with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd with the pitcher due up next... i dont care if the pitcher is zambrano, its just dumb

Harry Chappas
Not watching the game but the wind is blowing out at about 20 - 30 mph. Oh Big Z why do you tease the minion so? The Reds may have a shot at this division if their bullpen can be productive.

Oh Big Z why do you tease the minion so? The Reds may have a shot at this division if their bullpen can be productive. I do like them, but if St. Louis stays healthy, even with a good pen in Cincy, the Cards are the dominant team in that division, not if Carpenter gets ouchy or Holliday or Albert, then it's a free for all
Jordan4life_2007
Zambrano with 96 pitches through 4 innings? lol.
Jordan4life_2007
Gameday says there's been an injury delay. Has Zambrano's arm fallen off yet? 114 pitches through 4 2/3 innings. LMAO. Another WP by Zambrano. 121 pitches in 5 innings. That's what I call efficiency. Now the vaunted Cubs bullpen takes over from here. BigSqwert
I predict midway through the season Zambrano will LITERALLY implode into a heaping pile of dust.

Harry Chappas
If they were smart they would use Marshall for the remainder of this game to get to Marmol. He is their best shot of shutting the Brewers down and there is no way the Brewer pen which could be worse than the cubs is going to keep the ball in the aprk. The cub will end up with at least 9 runs today.

Tony Pena would be the best pitcher in their pen. Linebrink would be a close second. Wow PH for Marshall may be a slugfest now. Zaun swings 3-0 Escober Swings 1-0 Inglett walks See a pattern here Edited April 15, 2010 by Jenks Heat
