Jordan4life_2003
Now before u guys go crazy i'm glad we got Everett. But ever since Rowand came back from the minors he's been puttin a hurting on the baseball. This even before we made the Everett deal...Everybody talkin about we need a 5th starter and bullpen help. Maybe we shoulda taken care of that 1st? I don't know. I just wanna see Rowand get a chance to play everyday. I think he could be a damn good ballplayer... Even though Konerko is starting to heat up, I'd love to see Rowand in CF everyday, and Everett DHing. One Rowand is much better defensively than Everett in CF and has been tearing the cover off the ball when he plays. Then we trade Konerko for a 5th starter or we keep him on the bench to pinch hit. I guess the main thing in gettin Everett was having a left handed power bat in the middle of the line-up to break up the righty dominance...So in that case it was a good move. Rowand will get his chance eventually...
Loaiza21
Hmm maybe Jerry should try Alomar Rowand Thomas Ordonez Everett (DH) Lee Valentin/Graffo Crede Olivo Oh the possibilities TINKEROO!

Of course, having Everett's veteran experience and having Rowand be able to come in defensively at the end of games is good to have.

But I think that is what hurt us in 2000. to many right handed bats so all the Mariners had to do was use the same reliever(Nelson) in the late innings. I think Everett and Daubach will fix that with there LH power.
Mr. Showtime
Rowand is Graffanino. When you play them everyday it's trouble, using them once a week is perfect.

Rowand has never played consistently enough to say who he is. I agree about Graffy though...
doubleM23
I don't agree with that. Rowand has never played consistently enough to say who he is. I agree about Graffy though... Except for last year, after Lofton was dealt, and he sucked a fat one... Or the start of this year... Rowand is a 4th outfielder. He's a good fourth outfielder. Why does everyone have an obsession by asking him to do stuff he shouldn't have to?
Jim Fainter
Because last year he played very well after we traded Lofton. He has a strong minor league resume of playing everyday. He's a damn good ballplayer, who got into a terrible slump for 2-3 months, which may have been caused by that off season accident. Then he started to hit, and we got Carl. I would much rather see him get the playing time than either Lee or Konerko. Also, he might very well be a starter next year, regardless. No one knows where Carl or Carlos will be in 2004. Right now, Rowand is better than those other guys, plus he is probably the second fastest player on the team. Aaron will be a starter in the big leagues, hopefully for us. danman31
I think Rowand needs to get a chance. He has shown flashes of playing well and has been kicked out of the starting lineup by a new arrival the last couple years. Just when he started hitting well this season we traded for Everett. I like the deal, but I think to get a good 5th starter we should deal Carlos Lee. Unforutnatlely I don't think there is an available pitcher good enough to get for C Lee. I know it's a risky move, but I'd like to see Rowand get a chance.
RedPinStripes
Hmm maybe Jerry should try Alomar Rowand Thomas Ordonez Everett (DH) Lee Valentin/Graffo Crede Olivo Oh the possibilities TINKEROO! No! I like Lee in the 2 hole. Something that Jerry tnkered with actually worked. I'm iffy on Rowand. Much better defense, but if he plays everyday, i think you'll see why he's a bench player. I wasnt a fan of the everet deal anyway. I'm half and half on this. Everet made this team a lot weaker defensivly , but his bat dont hurt. greg775
I disagree that Rowand is better than Lee. Lee rarely is praised. There are a lotta worse players than Lee. He's knocked in a lot of runs AGAIN this year. I am not a Rowand hater, but his awful hitting early gives him no ammunition to ever complain about playing time. He's in a good role right now playing every once in a while. p.s. We haven't exactly been playing great teams, but it's nice to be winning. I think the reason we are winning is our great starting pitching and the fact we no longer have to see Harris and Jimenez on the field and in our lineup. Those 2 guys are not big leaguers. He hit .292 with 7 HR and 27 RBI and 34 Runs in the 2 months and a week after Lofton left. Rowand had a bad month this year coming off an injury. He has been hot since coming back. He has hit .375 since coming back from Charlotte. Rowand has not been given a true enough look for anyone to say that he can't play everyday. Realize that Carlos Lee has more RBI's than anyone on this team and has the highest BA with RISP of anyone on this team...
Rex Hudler
Did someone say that Rowand was better than Lee? If so, I missed it. What I recall being posted is that they would rather see Rowand playing CF and Everett playing LF, and trading Lee for a 5th starter. If that is the case, then no comparison of Rowand and Lee was actually made.

WOW....I didn't know his numbers were that good...As far as his slump to start the season I attribute that to the severe motorclycle accident he had in the off-season. Many say Rowand was lucky to walk away alive. He no doubt in my mind deserves to play everyday somewhere...
Soxplosion
Im not trading Lee if Rowands the replacement. First, LEE LEADS THE TEAM IN RIBBIES! Yeah, brilliant idea, go and trade your RBI leader. Geez, you make KW look like Einstein. And second, Rowands a career bench player. If we trade anyone, trade him. He can go get his playing time somewhere else... Capn12
Heres what I say...whats the reason for trading Lee at all? Everett walks after this year, and we can leave it as Lee, Rowand, Ordonez in the OF....we don't need 30+ HRs at every position..Rowand is needed, because he has shown no reasons as to why he shouldnt be playing everyday...he does what is asked of him, gives everything he has in the outfield, and simply, he is hitting the ball well. I have no problem with him playing everyday, let Everett play LF, Lee DH, Frank at 1B...and JM can tinker from there...the kid deserves to play everyday, plain and simple. Loaiza21
Man, why do we even care. We should be happy with a guy like Rowand being able to come in off the bench. It's good to have extras! And next season Rowand may start in CF.
dasox24
AllStarAlomar, I really like reading that scouting report on Garland you have in your signature. That would be freaking awesome if he became like Kevin Brown(pre-injury).
