dasox24
Valido is having a good year so far for Bristol. And, he is showing that he can hit, which was a question when we drafted him. If I remember correctly, he was said to be the best defensive SS coming out of high school. But, he has 13 errors in 33 games. Is this something we should worry about, or do you think he'll be able to lower the amount of errors he makes, simply with practice?
Jim Fainter
No. Yes.
Guest JimH
Jim, the one word answers remind me of ... oh, never mind. You're right though. It's very common for young guys to have a bunch of errors their first go-around in pro ball. As long as they're being taught well, and have the ability to listen and learn, it shouldn't be a problem. He (Valido) is coming out of the gate like gangbusters. Let's hope he can keep it going the rest of the year and on into next year. I'm hoping GF and Bristol are hot the 2nd half and these kids can see what it's like to be in a pennant race, so to speak.
MnSoxFan
The higher up they get the better the fields get. Lets hope the errors are aggressive errors like rushing a throw or making outstanding tries and not letting grounders go through his pickets. My guess is he will be fwine. He has 5 dingers already, that is a lot for that league. Walks, must have a nice OBP. All goodness there.
Chisoxfn
His defense will be just fine. Right now he's the best shortstop prospect in the organization.

I'm really glad to hear this about Valido. He's been really good offensively! I can't wait to see how he does once he gets to low/high A ball, and AA. But, since he just came out of high school, do you think that he'll go to Great Falls next year, and then Kannapolis the year after and so on...? Odds are they would have him in Great Falls, but their is a shot he'd be at Kannapolis all of next season.

That would be great if he could go straight to Kannapolis next year, but if isn't ready and gets sent to Great Falls, that would be fine with me. I just want him to go to a place that he will be ready for, and not go to Kannapolis and do terrible and lose confidence.
MnSoxFan
I would guess Kanny myself.
