Thome would be a big upgrade over what we have now (absolutely nothing) and he is one of the better options out there for what we would likely have left to spend, if anything. I, too, was just sick as hell of him after that second half. But recently, I can't help but think about how pissed I was he didn't make the all-star team. If we took a flyer on him, I'll hold my tongue...possibly my nose as well. But I just have to wonder if Jim really has another year left in him. As long as he NEVER plays against a lefty, I'll take his 2 strikeouts, 1 weak selfish groundout to the shift, no speed, and 1 walk per game against good pitching, and his 3 for 4 with a HR once a week during a blowout.
