Steve9347
I didn't expect to see him land there... should be interesting. Reds signed LHP Aroldis Chapman to a six-year contract. Terms were not released, however he is expected to make around $30 million. It was long assumed that the Cuban defector would sign with a big market team, but while the Yankees and Red Sox have focused on acquiring proven talent this winter, the small market Reds will bank on potential. Chapman, who turns 22 in February, is still very raw, which is why he's no lock to pitch in the majors this season, however he possesses one of the game's best fastballs -- clocked at over 100 mph -- and a plus-slider, to boot. The lanky lefty will reportedly make around $1 million in 2010, so it could be a hefty total should he not match expectations later on, but this is ultimately a small price to pay with a player of Chapman's considerable potential. link
