ok after sitting through 3 and 1/2 great games i must say we are pretty darn set for hitting and some pretty good defense at the trip a level......as for pitching ..well.... that leaves a little to be desired.....

friday nite i witnessed ryan kohlmeier throw an awesome game.....the kids got great stuff, good motions, and a real killer game face..lol...of course mind you this is the only time i got to see him throw but none the less it was very impressive.....if he can continue to keep this up he will make a great addition in the bull pen up here some day........ginter got the save for friday and of course you all ready know about him cause you all have seen him up here......put kohlmeier as one on the impressives list and one to keep an eye on for the future........

wright pitched game 1 of saturdays double header... he did alright but just had to give up a homer lol.......tom jacquez started game 2 and ... well...he puts the s in sucks......not impressed with this kid at all, and rauch had to come in and save his ass...maybe he was having a bad nite?? but it leaves the question ..why is he up at the trip a level.. surely there is someone at double a who can do better???? jake meyer is another one... dont understand why hes up at the trip a level either... hes no better than tom....fliex diaz came in for jake and didnt do much better..... our pitching really leaves some to be desired....

we are chuck full of great hitting thats for sure....a few tops on the list are tim hummel, ryan hankins, aaron miles, ross gload, mike rivera, armondo rios, and of course joe borchard .. all who did quite well with the stick......id have to say that hummel takes the tops though...hes pretty damn good.....but all the guys listed were hitting the ball pretty well this weekend......

defensively......hummel at 3rd is great....hes got pretty good mobility and i was quite impressed with him there.....miles is lookin good at 2nd and must be working on his range cause he was right on this weekend with hustle to the ball.....gload played 1st, rf, and lf.. he came up with the only error all weekend playing first....i think hes better suited for the outfield as opposed to the infield... i say that because he has a really good throwing arm and can get the ball back to the infield rather fast.....hes a good long tosser.....hankins ph's, dh'd and played 1st.... if its a choice of him or gload at 1st i think i would take hankins.... hes good defensively and quick to the bag......nunez is a pretty good short stop.. but needs a bit of work going to the left.... what is it with going left that guys have such a hard time with ??? lol.....rios played rf once and dh'd most of the time....hes got a good bat but im thinking hes gonna be nothing more than an off the bench type of guy and someone to go to in a jam for the outfield.....guys like gload , borchard and even murphy showed good defensive promise in the outfield.......rivera is a good catcher..... not quite the rocket arm of olivo but excells in other areas.. he can call a good game and has great reflexes behind the plate... if he could get the arm up to where olivos is then id say we have one helluva catcher on our hands.....

MHO guys to keep an eye on for the future are kohlmeier, hummel, miles, gload, rivera, hankins, and of course we already know what wright, ginter and borchard are made of.......

all in all i had a great time, met a few of the guys outside the game and i have some great pics to share when i get them developed...louieville, mind you is not exactly crawling with nite life but everyone there was nice, friendly and very hospitible.....i recomend staying at the hyatt regency of louieville.. its in walking distance to the park..down the street as matter of fact...and peppers sports bar is a good hang out to meet up with some of the players..... ;) thats all i got for now....and of course those are mho's.......

HSC, you must be delirious after a long trip....... I thought I read that you liked Hummel and thought he was a good player. If I recall, wasn't he basically on your all overrated team before?? LOL

Also, you said Rauch came in after Jacquez on Saturday and that Felix Diaz came in for Jake Meyer, but both of those should be reversed. Rauch and Diaz were the starters, Jacquez and Meyer relieved.

How many beers did you drink tonight?? ;)

I wouldn't be suprised if he was good in the 'pen for us since he was Baltimore's closer in 2000(though he wasn't very good then). He has some major league experience so he could be pretty good for us.

I just thought maybe you had a little too much "sauce" this weekend...

Here is my question for you....... How did Diaz look up until the 7th inning today? He had a 3-2 lead going into the 7th and only walked one while striking out 7. Was his outing really that bad? Or did the three runs in the 7th inning make it seem worse than it was? Also, did he give up all 3 runs in the 7th himself, or did Meyer give allow inherited runners to score??

Glad you had fun. You didn't have any problems with the law down there did you? You know, stalking Miles and everything. LOL

no no sauce today and no troubles with the law... miles was more than glad to see someone recognize him lol and he did remember me from spring training...... ;) i also had a few words with borchard who knows me all to well.....lol......diaz gave up 10 hits..5 runs ... and had 1 walk..one of the 2 meyer gave up was inherited from when he took over for diaz....diaz looked like he was running out of steam in the later part of the 5th.....as for the park...i love it..clean, and great seating.....excellent consessions and everyone is wonderfully nice........i highly recommend going there if you have the time........everything is affordable too.......and the slugger factory is right down the street .. i recommend seeing that too.........i loved the hyatt.....its very nice... has a nice sports bar... good eats and its within walking distance to everything you need to do baseball related......nice view of the river too from my room........
