I wouldn't say the best, but I think St.Louis style pizza is really good.

Yep. Love St. Louis Pizza, but would not pick it over Chicago thin-crust as my deserted island pizza, if I was lucky enough to be stranded on a deserted island with pizza delivery.

Everything Prior to Chicago X is damn solid, and all of the Terry Kath-era stuff is essential. Radio may have played some of it to death, and Peter Cetera and his ego killed the group's individuality eventually, but they were once an awesome band.

IIRC there is even a couple of songs after that which are pretty decent. But the consistent quality just isn't there. Plus their discography is littered with greatest hits this and that.

the taste of chicago stinks...hot, too many people, too expensive, very ghetto now

on the other hand...i love deep dish pizza....that said i love all pizza, and the times that ive lived away from chicago, ive been able to find decent pizza at other places...one thing that you absolutely can't find though is a decent italian beef...chicago has so many beef stands that you can get a good one at, and nowhere else has em

I don't know if this is technically a Chicago thing, but Ricobene's breaded steak sandwich is one of the worst things I have ever tasted.

I agree. I actually went out and got one after reading about it in a thread here on Soxtalk, but I was so disappointed with how it turned out. :( I was also hoping they'd use a brown cream soup-based country gravy instead of the red country gravy they used.

For now on I'll be sticking with what I always get at Ricobene's, their delicious Chicken Vesuvio sandwich. :)

Not a fan of Vienna hot dogs... especially that thick casing that's like chewing through an inner tube. I also don't need all that garbage on my hot dog (if I really wanted all that I'd order a salad). Give me a ballpark frank any day with mustard, ketchup and onions and I'm happy (I'm happy with a regular hot dog bun but REALLY happy if you give me a poppy seed bun!).

Definitely not a Cub fan, that goes without saying though.

CANNOT STAND Old Style beer

^^ Agreed, those are awful. People raved abot them and when I had one I couldn't believe anyone thought they were any good.

I went to Giordano's.

We have a Gino's East near me in South Bend. I can check it out sometime.

Giordanos is garbage. Lou's, Art of Pizza, anything else please.

And Chicago has its own great thin crust pies as well, Rosatti's, Aurelio;s etc are fantastic. My fav pizza places are not deep dish in Chicago, they are thin crust places in DG and Elmhurst.

Vito and Nick's

Now end of discussion.

I also think Vito and Nicks has the best thin crust pizza. I usually get a supreme from there, but I tried the roast beef last time (after seeing it on Diners Drive Ins and Dives, and if you havent seen that look for it because Vito and Nicks is featured on an episdoe) and it was also delicious Have you ate in there recently though? The last two time I have been there, the service has been horrendous. I'm not usually someone who complains anywhere, but it has been ridiculous. There was one younger waitress who works her butt off, and the rest are miserable. It was to the point where we waited over 2 hours for our pizza after we ordered it (and it wasn't that busy for Vito and Nicks). She got the order wrong. The worst part about this whole ordeal was during the over 2 hours we were waiting, she didn't refill our drinks one time. We had to go to the bar and pay cash 3 or 4 times for drinks while we were waiting, and we were not the only table doing this. I saw at least 2 other tables have to go up and get their own drinks from the bar. Watching table after table come in after us to sit in the younger waitress' section, and leave well before us became quite annoying. Just so you guys know, if you dine in there, try to sit with the younger one, or you might be there awhile. Vito and Nick's might be the only place that could get away with this though, because their pizza is so damn good.

We pretty much only ordered delivery anyway so that would be welcome news. I will keep my finger's crossed. Thanks.

Thats the word from the owners. You can always go eat in elmhurst at that location however, easy parking and the Sox game is always on.

ah yeah vito and nick's is awesome...thats my favorite of the "very thin" variety...Palermo's is thicker...in the mold of giordano's thin crust (which is also very good might i add) and i think its the best pizza ive ever had....with Malnati's a close second

I moved out to the DC metro area about 5 months ago (technically live in Virginia). All I can say is, I have never missed Chicago more in my life. Forget distinction between a good deep dish and thin crust, pizza is just terrible all-around. They have places that advertise as "Chicago-style" with some faux-Italian name... just garbage pizza. It took me 3 weeks to realize I was south of the Mason-Dixon, let alone I-80. These southern accents are killing me, and I'm sick of being called a Yankee for my Chicago accent. We get 2" of snow and people call in sick to work. Seriously. And just like someone else mentioned, everyone has to be all smiles and slow, southern-speaking. I've been told to calm down too many times because they can't cope with the speed and accent with which I talk. And to bring it all together, I have to admit I can't stand Chicago-style dogs; do it up with ketchup, honey mustard, and cheddar cheese. The one thing I will say I enjoy is that yesterday it was 61 degrees and sunny, hot dog stands going on the streets, smelled like baseball season in January. Can't get that in Chicago.
