Retherford to try catching

From Phil Rogers:

C.J. Retherford, an all-star second baseman for Birmingham's 92-win team a year ago, will experiment with catching in 2010. He got his first looks there during instructional league and at a January mini-camp for pitchers in Arizona and is expected to work in that role in spring training, after receiving an invitation to major league camp.

Sounds good to me. There isn't going to be a middle infield spot open for quite a while (trades pending) and everyone's bat plays better at catcher. We are relatively well stocked at the catching position with Flowers, Phegley and Gonzalez but versatility is always a plus.

If he can stick behind the dish, he can be very useful to the sox; i would to see him develop into the right handed version of john baker, if he can catch it decently and bring a .750ops that would be awesome
