I'm too worried about doing it incorrectly and jacking up my phone to ever root it though. Always considered, never had the guts to try it.

Looks pretty simple to me.

Rooting usually won't cause anything to go wrong (it's hard to brick an Android device).

Just unlocked, rooted, and flashed a ROM on my One earlier this week. I feel all grown up now. I agree that there are not a lot of beginner's resources and you'll have to get a minimum of adequacy with command prompt unless a kind developer has created a tool for your device

Once you do it once, it becomes pretty easy.

For a while it seemed like we were buying a new vacuum every year. We had problems with the belts constantly breaking, the motors burning out or they would just stop picking stuff up. We even bought one at an actual vacuum store and still had problems with it.

We finally seem to have a decent one now. It’s not a Dyson but it’s not a bottom of the line one either. It seems like with vacuums you really pay for what you get.

I’ve always heard Dyson owners say they love theirs. If their claim of never having loss of suction is true, then it might be worthwhile.

With as much money as we’ve put out for them, we probably should’ve just gotten a Dyson years ago.

I've heard that Dysons are ok but are over-priced, might not last all that long and can have repair problems. OTOH if you go nuts and buy something like a Miele or an Electrolux, it really is supposed to be substantially better and last forever. But who the hell wants to pay that much for a vacuum?

there was a reddit "AMA" by a vacuum repair technician a few months ago,

I have a Dyson, had it for about 8 years and it still works just fine, no suction loss. yeah they are on the expensive side, I just had a huge change jar and when it filed up I took that money and it paid for 3/4 of the price so I didn't feel too bad paying $300 for it. We have 3 cats so we go the pet specific one.

We've had a dyson for 6-7 years now. Spent like $500 on it, plus a bunch of attachments. I use it sparingly and couldn't tell you if its great or not compared to other brands/models. It does the job. We have a dog and 2 cats and it deals with pet hair fine and doesn't seem to struggle to pick things up. And we've never had an issue with anything breaking or not working properly. My wife will tell it was worth every penny and then some. She loves that thing.

they're reasonably priced, usually cheaper than Dyson, but Miele vacuums can be close to $1000

Yeah I have the really popular tiny orange one that is mainly an intense dust buster with a standup frame you can detach it from.

We also have an old hand me down self propelled kirby

As a former salesperson who owns one himself...seriously, if you are willing to spend $500 on a cleaning system you should consider these. I won't repeat my drunken rants from 7 years ago, but they're absolutely worth it and head and shoulders above what you think you're actually doing otherwise.

Do you know which one?

Is that one from Boston?

Whatever the one that costs $300 is. You are vacuuming but you don't have to do anything other than push a button and empty the tray.

And yes, it is from Boston. THAT ROOMBAH IS THE NEW WELKAH, NOW WE JUST NEED A SNOWBLOWAH TO BE THE NEW PEDROIAH

There are a ton of models nowadays, its gotten very confusing. They even have a floor washer one that is cool.
