It probably is overblown, but your example is of a phone bending that's been out for half a year. And I also searched on Google and found maybe 2-3 forum posts about it.

I don't think this is a metal problem, it's a design or manufacturing problem.

We will find out in the weeks to come.

Point is, people have complained about other metal phones bending from "normal use", but what exactly is normal use to that person? Did he go rock climbing and then complain it's bent?

What I'd like to see is a legit test performed on the different metal phones...not a metal phone vs a plastic one. Those results are kind of expected. It's not very surprising metal phones bend and don't snap back into shape, is it? But if it's happening THAT easily, that's terrible quality control, but I want to know exactly how much pressure the different phones can take before they bend, otherwise this is just another instance of, "Apple's involved let's write a piece on it for clicks".

It is technically possible to run different signals on the same coax, but it really depends on what the frequency range of each is. Usually when you want to do this, you use a specific piece of equipment (multiplexer) that will transmit multiple signals down a line.

Jason lays out the best scenario IMO. You only need a TWC coax drop to one room. Any decent technician should have a tone tester that will allow them to identify which cables go where. If you're not actually using all four of the coax lines from the splitter, you could just disconnect the line you're not using and connect that directly to the TWC incoming line.

Really dumb tech question:

I used to have DirecTV with DSL internet, but the internet really sucked. I switched to the local cable company (which is now TWC which is being bought by Comcast) mainly because of the much better internet.

Now DirecTV is making me ridiculous offers to switch back, and the TV portion of my bill would be much lower, but I'm not willing to give up TWC's internet.

So, my question is, can DirecTV television and TWC cable simultaneously run through the same cable wiring in my house?

What if you just had DirecTV and TWC internet? That is more expensive than having two television services?

I think that's what he is going with, but he still needs to get the DTV signal and the TWC internet signal into his house via coax somehow.

Oh...well they can do that...I have DirecTV and Cox Internet...they'll figure it out, trust me...

Direct TV would run a direct line into that box and then if the cables you have are the appopriate cables, can then split the line to the appropriate boxes and then keep the TWC line going to whichever place your modem is. Worst case scenario is you have the modem at the same spot as the tv, in which case there would be one new drop that has to be ran to connect. Or you could have the flexibility of moving the modem to another spot that you have a cable line and no tv (if you are all wifi vs. hard connect). You just have to stay on your installer and make sure he does it. Its pretty simple, even if you don't have the gadget, usually they have flagged what rooms each line is for but worse case you do a little trial and error.

Well, two of the four lines will have TVs. The other two will not, but they are in the bedrooms of kids aged 6 and 4, so I don't think I want the wifi equipment at either of those outlets.

worst case scenario they have to run a new coax line. you can pretty much always run new lines.

Yeah, they come in separately to my house...not sure what the setup looks like at the box, but I've got DirecTV coming in through the front of the house and Internet coming through the back.

Then just go with my plan B and have the Direct TV guy (or TWC guy) run an extra line to the spot you want your router. I say either of them because I'd find out who would do it for the cheapest. I presume you want them to fish the lines and keep everything hidden in the walls, etc, and I believe Direct TV charges for that (it isn't part of a standard installation).

Since I'm already a TWC customer, I'm certain that they will charge me for coming out. I'm not currently a DirecTV customer, so they're going to have to offer to do it for me really cheap if not free if they really want my business.

I would just tell them that. Worse case guy comes out and you slip him 20 bucks or something. That has usually been my approach to doing things. I do know that my experience is cable companies are better at doing in-house stuff for free then direct tv. Not sure why since in most instances you are working with contractor's either way but I'm the type that doesn't want holes between my exterior to interior of my house, massive cables running all over the place, etc. I want it to be clean.

The other thing I didn't think of is isn't there that genie thing on direct tv now so maybe you only need to hardwire the line into one place, so then you don't even need a new wire. I'm not sure how genie works but I presume it gives you more flexibility so you run the genie into a spot where you don't need your TWC modem and then in the psot where you have a modem and tv, you have the genie wireless thing set-up and thus TWC feeds straight their and your direct TV goes over the genie.

The genie isnt wireless, it has coax into each one.

I know for my Uverse I have a wireless receiver and it works nifty. I am kind of surprised the satellite companies don't have the uverse. Genie is that stupid thing Direct TV advertises with no wires with the puppets right?

Well Im an idiot and i guess the headphone jack is really tight so you actually have to push it hard to make it click in. (I could have made that more explicit but whatever.)

I bought a fancy case, not sure how I feel about it. Its bulkier, probably a few mms around, but also kind of comforting that it should get ruined in water/etc.

Got 14 days to return no cost, so well see.

I haven't used a case in 3.5 years and haven't busted my phone. (18 mos on current one). Unless you are in construction or something, just risk it.

I just don't want the back to get scratched up. I never had a case but I just got a simple case from Skin It for my S3 and nothing has happened.

So I decided on buying the LG G3. Now I need to find a good case that isn't bulky and doesn't take away the feel of the phone. The circle case seems interesting, has anyone had experience with those types of cases?

I played with one in the store yesterday. I hate that the phones keep getting bigger, but it was very slick and nice looking, and of course, super fast and took incredible pictures.

I bought a $8 case from Poetic that pretty much provides no protection, but it keep my phone from getting scratches and gives a little bit of a bump off the screen so I can put it face down and it won't scratch. It's super thin.

I loved the feel of the phone and it didn't feel that big too me.

I am looking at the Spigen ultra fit case. It is their thinnest and less protective case they have and it is only $10 on Amazon, figured I would get it just in case I want to have a case on it if I go somewhere.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mentioned the main reason I got a case was to help me grip the phone. The G2 was very slippery in the hand, so this case allows me to put it on my leg and it doesn't slide off.

My genie definitely has a coax coming in from the wall.
