Need a little IT advice. I manage my organizations Email system. Our email addresses have always been First Initial, Last name followed by @(companyname).com. For example, Ben Smith would be [email protected]. First the first time ever, we have a situation where two people have the same first initial and last name. I am conflicted on how to handle this. Should the new employee be first initial, middle initial and last name. or [email protected]?

I am worked first initial, middle initial and last name will look too much like the other one which is just first initial and last name and that might cause people to accidentally send email to the wrong person.

I used to be just like you about 10 years ago, trust me...and then I actually gave one of their devices a chance...

I've ordered two iPads and like 3 iPhones online at launch and two of them arrived at my home prior to the release date in stores...

Somebody would have to gift wrap a free iPhone for Joe in order for him to give it a chance.

I wish the system had been setup that way years ago before I got here. I'd hate to make such a drastic shift. But I do agree it's a better naming convention.

Odds are the firm eventually moves that way anyway if it is growing at all. It makes sense to me to move that way, instead of an interim step.

The solution is you fire the newcomer.

I'm getting a 15" laptop to be my new primary laptop at school, while traveling for college baseball, and whatever else it is I do. I don't have the budget to spend like I did when I bought my Mac that just went out on me.

Is the upgrade to i7 worth the money or should I stick with i5? Should I upgrade to dedicated video card > i7?

I will rarely game but usually have 10+ internet tabs going, music, word, maybe a few other programs on at once on a given night. Perhaps utorrent. MLB.tv when applicable.

What is your budget? You are traveling a bunch you said?

For the money you can get a macbook air for under 1k which I think is a great deal

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/spec.../macbook_air/13

The i5 will be just fine for what you are doing most likely.

I can't speak for the i7, but I have an i5 and it handles a similar workload just fine.

Based on my previous experience with Apple while I still think they have a far superior OS I won't be buying again unfortunately.

Ideally it wouldn't be over 1k after I buy 2 year accidental damage, etc.

Good stuff, it may save me money/allow me to have other cool features

I have an i3 inside mine, and I mostly just use it for internet browsing and watching videos, and I go to town with tabs many times, yet I've never had any troubles.

I built my laptop for mobility purposes as I was traveling extensively when I first bought it, and I got about 8-10hrs of battery life with light browsing, dimmed but not dark lighting, etc. An i3 processor may be worthwhile to look into if you want to get max battery life.

I also do gaming on the laptop, nothing huge but things like LoL, Medieval Total War, etc with no issues.

Just picked up my ipad3 from the apple store on north ave. Need it for work purposes and demos but it looks pretty nice comparative to the first one I have.

You going to get the case with the keyboard integrated into it? I'm thinking of getting one and dragging mine to work as well because I refuse to drag around my company-issued Dell 40 pound laptop, and I am always filling up notebooks at meetings and sooner or later it becomes a bit tough to keep everything organized.

I ended up getting an HP Pavilion DV6t 15.6" Laptop on a steal from ebay. Gave that seller quite a once over to see if he was legit and he was. He is a graphics artist and decided he wanted something with a smaller screen for travel. Unfortunately (for him) he didn't make this decision until Day 23 of ownership and the HP return policy is 21 days. He never even installed Windows on it before putting it up on ebay. Booted windows from an external SSD and ran for 10 hours for me to make sure it wasn't a lemon. It has 11 months of factory warranty remaining, which DOES carry over to a second owner. He also has a return policy that allows me to return it to him if it has a bunch of out-of-the-box problems within 30 days.

So what did I get for $650?

• 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2450M Processor (2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz)

• 1GB AMD Radeon™ HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics™ [HDMI, VGA]

• 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) ((upgradable to 16GB))

• 640GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

• 15.6" Full HD HP Anti-glare LED (1920 x 1080)

• Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner

Seems like a pretty good deal, the only things I could have gotten to boost performance is a higher RPM hard drive or an i7 chip -- I'm happy with the second gen i5 that isn't even the slowest version of itself. I think 1GB of dedicated graphics should be plenty to watch MLB.tv lol. If not I'll upgrade the hell out of the RAM to compensate. Most thrilled that I got the 1080p monitor, I wanted dat resolution but it was a $200 option on new laptops

Let me clarify. Google Map's turn by turn navigation is absolutely excellent and that's what I rely heavily on. I already know they are rated the best in mapping services so the backbone/foundation for their navigation is nothing I ever have to worry about.

Google's MyTracks app records your gps data and uploads it to google maps and google earth so you can see the route you took (along with other data). Great for hiking/riding.
