These services are specific to a certain set of people. I'd never pay to stream music, not from anyone...I just don't see the need. Certain people seem to have this *need* to find new music, when I'm perfectly happy with the quite-wide variety/collection of music I have now. I don't really need to "find" new music, especially if it means I have to listen to 50 bustout songs to find a good one that I "may" like. Music I like eventually makes it's way to me, just as it always has.

I have about 10,000 songs in my collection, weighing in at almost 60 gigs. I have enough music to listen too for the rest of my life without worrying about growing tired of it, either.

Heh, maybe you're just too old to like any new music.

4.3 will be out before that I think. They haven't mentioned it yet, so maybe that was a false rumor. If 5.0 does get released, it will be with the next Nexus later this year.

Google's streaming service is already live, along with a new Google Play Music app. I'm already using it. It's slightly cheaper than Spotify on mobile, so that's good. I don't know if I'd pay $7 a month to play all my music on mobile though.

Hey CHW...you got a job with Dell, right? Anything changed w/ them possibly getting bought out?

I think I'm going to go for HTC One. Their tweaks to standard Android to my knowledge are rather minor, short of requiring you to use BlinkFeed as one of your homepages. I think I might actually like BlinkFeed, so I'll be okay with that.

The only bad thing about BlinkFeed is that ugly weather clock.

You can always use a third party launcher to get rid of it. Nova launcher is definitely the best.

The HTC One actually acts a lot like a Nexus device. The bootloader can be unlocked through HTC-dev and there's already CM builds for it due to that.

And CM builds are not dumpy. :P

Stock Android is nice and stable, but there are customization options it lacks that I cannot live without. That's where custom ROMs come into play. Paranoid Android is actually developing Facebook chat heads for all notifications, allowing for overlay multi-tasking. It's pretty damn impressive.

I'm also fairly sure there will be 100% stock AOSP builds for the One in the future.

CM builds are dumpy. They're not very stable. IMO, that's an immediate no go.

I have a lot of new music. Like I said, it finds me, I don't go seeking it out by listening to a ton of crap.

They're not stable when they're in alpha. But after they through a few milestones, they're just like stock.

Maybe it's slightly different for Nexus devices given that they're built to run AOSP-based ROMs. But I never found any issues when I flashed AOKP on a Galaxy S3 for work.

What are you doing in the press box?

Radio play by play.

Anyway, bought a replacement screen from blisscomputers.net, and found a shop that will fix it for $60. Thinking about just replacing it myself. Saw a youtube video and it looks pretty easy.

In the market for new laptop. I'm done with Dell. Looking at Macs. Suggestions?

Just use it for basic stuff at home.

With macs, you don't have a whole lot of options. Just look through Apple's website, you'll see what they have available in a few minutes.

Personally, if I were looking for a computer to "Just use for basic stuff at home", I'd steer away from Apple. They're worth the money if you make heavy use of them for work or school or whatever, but you can get a cheap laptop at Best Buy or Amazon for 1/3 the price. The Cheapest Macbook is $1000, a cheap laptop on sale at one of those places will be $300-$400.

You'll have to put up with Windows 8 for now, and they're not going to be as reliable as a mac, but for "Basic stuff", presumably meaning maybe a few microsoft applications and going online, I'd go for the cheap one. Even if it breaks down in 2 years, the replacement cost would be so low that it'd be cheaper to buy 2 of those than to buy a single macbook.

Macbook air if you want portable cheaper Apple, otherwise go with a cheaper PC.
