Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 15, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) Size depends on what you need it for, and personal preference, no? I find that most people claim they do more with their phones than they really do...IE, they send a few emails, text, and MAYBE make a phone call 99.9% of the time, and the other 0.01% of the time, they do something more complicated, or try out a feature only to never use it again. I checked it out this weekend and it's really not as big as the reviews make it seem. I was still able to operate it one handed (operated in the sense that I could swipe horizontally with my thumb from one side to the next, definitely not vertically though I can't really do that with my phone now). It's also fit into my pocket with ease. I think I even talked my wife into getting one too (she wanted the Droid Maxx) $299 with a new contract is the sticking point, on top of the bulls*** $30 "upgrade fee" that Verizon charges per phone. $800 for two new toys is a nice chunk of change, but maybe worth the price given that we both use our phones most of the day. RockRaines
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) So Apple updated the IPads, MacBook Pros, and Mac Pro(revealed price, available in December) today. That was expected. They also made the upgrade to Mavericks available, for free. Upgrading now.

(AAPL) will probably start selling ultra-high definition televisions with 65- and 55-inch screens during the fourth quarter of next year, according to a Tokyo-based analyst at Advanced Research Japan Co. The Cupertino, California-based company is deciding on specifications, and the models likely will have a frameless design, Masahiko Ishino, an analyst at Advanced Research who tracks developments in the consumer-electronics industry, said in an interview Oct. 18. Ishino declined to identify the people who gave him the information.

Jake
I hope to get a Mac whenever I can afford one. Very sad that my MBP pooped out. I think Mac OS X is the absolute best operating system. StrangeSox
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) Yeah, we're a 5 attorney, 10 person total office, so it makes no sense to have a full time IT person. We actually spend more on IT crap than I think it's worth. Sadly, for whatever reason, our email scanner didn't catch this and then my secretary opened up an email she shouldn't have. Paying the ransom did seem to work btw. Now i'm looking into signing up for a better email filter service. Anyone have any recommendations? We just had about five people get hit with this thing, way to go IT department!

I'd recommend just paying the ransom unless you've got a back-up and internal IT dept (i.e., no money spent getting everything back to normal). Steve9347
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) So one my secretaries got this "Cryptolocker" virus on her computer last night. It took over my entire firms' network. It's an awesome virus that installs itself and then encrypts every file on the host computer (and any drive connected to that computer, including our 10 year old shared drive with every document we've created). In order to get the key to unencrypt the files, you gotta pay a ransom of $300 bucks to the hackers in a pre-paid debit card form. Getting rid of the virus does nothing as the files are still encrytped and unusable. Gonna be a fun Friday getting this all figured out. http://www.contentverse.com Get it. Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) Exactly this. They're old people (50-60's and older) that don't understand how or why someone would send out a fake email designed to trick you into opening an attachment or giving out personal information. This is like wondering why 2 year olds don't understand that sticking their finger in a socket isn't a smart thing to do. They're just ignorant about what's going on and the consequences.
