BigSqwert
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) I think they will. Watching that battery usage monitor, after I took down some hogging processes (bluetooth I don't use, GPS I rarely us and can one-click it back on, G-Talk whatever the hell that is), the biggest hog on the battery is "cell standby". Its not the screen or running programs anymore, its when it has to search for a cell signal, like when I'm inside a bldg with bad signal. No way that needs to take up that much power, hell my BB was used in the same locations with the same wireless provider and lasted me 3 days at a time. I'd bet they will find some processing efficiencies there. G-Talk is google chat. BTW, big fan of the Battery Left Widget. They have a 1x1 widget that I use on my home screen that shows % remaining as well as hours/minutes remaining.

I used to think the same thing but after using swpye I would never go back to a physical keyboard.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) I honestly don't get the fascination with touch-only phones...? Allows for more screen real estate without the bulk or size of a slider keyboard. Works fine for me on the Incredible, but the physical keyboard on my BB was fine too. Not a big difference to me either way.

But the spell checker is a must. If I had to write more for business then I would probably prefer a physical board. I don't mind a spell checker, or suggestor, but it drives me nuts that it corrects words I type when I hit the space key to keep typing. Show me the suggestion, or highlight it, but don't make me go back and re-type all the damn time.
iamshack
I think once you get accustomed to them, the virtual keyboards allow for faster typing. I've gotten pretty quick typing on both the iPhone and the iPad. I know, I am an iDork.

The touch screen jumps around or it goes to the wrong location. I guess I need practice.

In my case I find the touchscreen faster and more accurate. My fingers are too big for a blackberry keyboard. The EVO screen is enormous so I rarely misspell. I was better on that than an actual keyboard. I type about 100 WPM on a regular keyboard, but on my Droid phone it's about 10 words per minute it seems. I'm waiting for the talk-to-text feature to be further refined. That will be a great help for me.
