PreOrdered the 6 this morning. No problems. Thought for sure I'd be too late and get backordered.

I read the other day that Apple can make ~50 million iPhones per month. I'm sure they're ready.

Due to bad luck the glass on my phone cracked (walking through turn-style it somehow hit right where there is no protected and cracked it), so Im probably going to be getting a new phone in the next month or so. Cant really decide on Samsung or Iphone. Im thinking just sticking with Samsung, but with Iphone actually being normal size now I may change.

Why not consider any other options? You probably know/plan this, but I'd recommend handling all devices in person before choosing and, even then, make sure you acquire it from a source that allows returns within a 14-30 day window. You'll probably know after two weeks whether you're going to hate the thing.

To be honest, I just prefer getting one of the main phones because that way I know there will cases, apps, etc that will work for it. Sometimes its just easier to buy mainstream and honestly, I dont really care that much.

Right now Im mainly thinking samsung because I have a lot of googlemusic (none through itunes) and Im so lazy I dont want to even look up whether google music works on apple. Thats how lazy Ive become towards technology.

Google Music is on iOS.

There, now you don't have to look it up.

The GalaxyS5 really is a good phone. I have it and like it.

yeah Galaxy is what im leaning towards unless apple blows me away.

The best part of Apple devices is that you can use them for a year or two and sell them back for almost as much as you paid for it. Samsung devices tend to hold up pretty well, too, however. I'm not sure about the others.

I do this every time, and regardless of what phone you have, I'd recommend it if your old device is just going to lay around and do nothing.

I just sold Gazelle my iPhone5 (NOT 5S, but a two year old 5) for 179$.

Google, unlike Microsoft, remembers they're a software company, so they made software for iOS, and most of it's quite good. Odds are if it's a Google owned application, if it exists on Android, it exists on iOS, too.

My advice: anything but Samsung.

They add stuff for the sake of adding it. You see that 2 GB of RAM the S5 has? You're only going to get maybe 800 MB because Samsung's add-ons are going to run in the background most of the time. Your phone is going to seem slow because of this.

Touchwiz, while better than before, is still far behind most other manufacturer skins.

If you want an Android phone now, look at the HTC One M8 or LG G3.

Both have better battery, better software, better build quality, and faster updates. The G3 also has better hardware.

I'd probably listen to this advice.

Touchwiz takes up a ton of memory, so their 2gigs they brag about are mostly used by stuff you really don't know about or even want.

I agree with him on the HTC one M8, my friend has it and it's the FIRST Android phone I was ever somewhat jealous of...and this is me talking...so, that kind of means something. ;)

As someone who has a busted S4 (now back on my old Iphone)...I'll third this. If I were to by an android device, I'd probably wait and get the latest google phone...it will have the least bloatware of any device. Just my 2 cents. I don't know how much Samsung's bloatware differs from HTC or anyone elses. All that said...all of these phones will work for what most of us use them for...calls / messaging / email / surfing web and both android / apple have huge app library to provide you with as many or little apps as you want.

A lot of the bloatware is from the carriers. HTC usually keeps their phones pretty clean of stuff you don't want, but that may not be the case for AT&T or Verizon. T-Mobile phones basically have no bloatware since they're sold unlocked. Google controls everything on their Nexus phones (which is why they don't work with Verizon anymore), so they have no bloatware or carrier-installed apps.

I also like HTC Sense 6 quite a bit. I'll probably never use a manufacturer skin full-time, but if I had to, I'd use Sense.

Their design language is extremely close to Material Design and it's a fairly light-weight skin.

I would also endorse the HTC One M8. You'll get the quickest software updates from HTC as well. My M7 is ~18 months old and I still love it. The criticisms of "will the phone even be good at the end of your contract?" aren't true with these devices, IMO

In other news, it appears Windows 9 will have a notification center. I'm so happy about that. It was such an obvious omission - they built these nice notifications into the 8/8.1, but once they disappeared, they were just gone.

Windows 8 did have lockscreen notifications.

I'd wait to see the battery size for the new Nexus. Sad to see that the new moto x didn't go with a bigger battery. Those 2 were the phones I was considering at this point as a potential next phone for me.

If the past is any indication, it won't be that big. I think they're going to up the screen size to about 5.2 inches (like the new Moto X) and hopefully give the battery a 500 mAH bump.
