I want to get an in-person look at the Nexus 6. Might just have to get one since I can get it on-contract via AT&T. Rumored 32GB on-contract price is $50; that's what it was when AT&T accidentally published the product page pre-announcement.

It's just huge, though, so moreso than the other bigger screen phones, I'd have to get a good look at it. I'd just do the Moto X 2014, but the humongous battery in the Nexus 6 is a pretty meaningful upgrade compared to the smaller Moto X

I can't ever give up my $30 5 GB plan with T-Mobile. I'm willing to shell out the $700 after taxes. The problem is, I can't even pre-order one if I wanted one.

I saw some shots of it next to a Note 4, it's basically the same size. That's not too much for me.

Microsoft's new $199 Fitness Band is what all of these watches/trackers up to this point wish they were or could have been.

This thing actually looks good, and works across all platforms (Windows Mobile, iPhones (uses their motion chip), and Android), with 48 hours of battery life and a host of sensors.

This is the first fitness band/product/watch I've ever been interested in.

The new fitness gadget is a Bluetooth band that records the number of steps the wearer takes in a day, the intensity of their sleep, exercise performance and calories burned. It also tracks heart rate, location via GPS, skin temperature, perspiration and UV exposure making it one of the most complete fitness trackers available.

See now thats more like it, tracking heart rate and stuff like that is so much better than just steps and definitely makes it worthwhile for that cost.

Yeah I like that a bit more than what I have seen.

Still to this day though most of the people i see using wearable health devices like the fitbit are not the kind of people I associate with "health"

You know me, I'm a big guy. I wore a fitbit for about 6 months and it helped track how active I was and reminded me on my lazy days that I need to do something, but it had way too many hardware/software bugs to really like it and think it was truly worthwhile.

Getting an accurate read on heart rate for during workouts would be great to have, that's really good data that can actually be applied to how you workout.

Does it remind you to get out there and do stuff? I wish they had something that motivated you with non stop ridicule. Thats something I could get behind.

No but was wondering if that would help. It seems like an older model.

If you have Comcast, you can check most of their modems statistics by going to http://192.168.100.1 (doesn't matter what network you are on, it should work). It will tell you your cable signal strength and nose ratios.

Downstream:

You are looking for power levels between -5 and +5 (zero being optimal).

SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) should be 33+ dB for complete stability, but 31-32dB can also work, though it means your modem is close to falling off connection and your modem is performing a lot of error corrections.

Upstream:

SNR should be between 42 > and

Newer cable modems will be DOCSIS3 and have up to 8 bonded downstream channels and 3 upstreams...not sure what yours will have or look like.

Anyone know of a good, free DVD ripper/converter program that works with Disney movies? I have ton of new and old DVD's/Blu-Rays that I want to put on a tablet so my son can watch them on the go.

Install VLC Media Player (comes with a dvd decrypter).

Install Handbreak (cannot be packaged with a dvd decrypter).

Select proper pre-set and rip away.

I really wonder why Google is so damn bad at product releases.

They do a pre-order for the Nexus 6, except they say it's sold out pretty much when the pre-order began. It's a f***ing pre-order, it should be used to take gather how much interest there is something and then use those numbers to make a certain amount of devices. How do you not allow people to give you their money?

They said they'd have more stock today and they sold out in a minute. Just how many Nexus 6s do they have? 15?

I'm gonna have to go buy one at a T-Mobile store or something now.

IMO, this is because Google is an advertising company that uses software designed by engineers to compile the information they collect in order to show relevant ads to their customers. It's their bread and butter, and it's the ONLY thing they do that makes them money, which allows them to keep things moving. Slowly, Google has started to incorporate UX designers into the mix, so they can assist the engineers in order to make better software (you're starting to see the drastic redesigns of everything they have, from Android to Google Maps that exhibits this change). They're exceptional at what they do, but not very good at the other stuff, such as supply chain management, customer service, marketing, feature awareness, etc. All of which is necessary if you want to distribute hardware, even if it's built by a 3rd party for them.
