I have really liked the android platform. That one link that you posted on here, BigSqwert, that allows the phone to be programming is pretty neat. Did you load it on your phone? (the one that you have to pay in british pounds?)_

Not yet. I've been contemplating whether to get it or not.

Another heads up for gamers. Gameloft is offering free trials on most of their games. Just pull them up in your browser.

Me too... actually. I can't figure out whether or not I want to clog up my phone with all of that stuff - I'm sort of afraid that it will mess up the underlying programming/.

Why do Android phones have such a stupid process for viewing picture messages? It's like it's made difficult on purpose. Why do I have to wait for a slide show to load (even for one pic)and then only have like 3 seconds to look at it until/unless I press pause? Anyone know an app I can use to bypass this dumb s***?

I have no idea what you're talking about. Is this via mail? MMS?

I think he's talking about MMS, maybe Verizon loaded some sort of "special" software on his phone, because whatever it is, it doesn't sound normal. Not that I know, since I don't own an Android anyway, but still...sounds odd.

Oh, and Kotsay has been impeached, you're mission was successful.

Paul Allen Files Patent Lawsuits Against Entire Web … Except Microsoft

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has filed far-reaching patent lawsuits against Google, Apple, Yahoo, Netflix, Facebook, AOL and eBay, among others, alleging the companies violated patents owned by his now-defunct idea lab Interval Research.

The four patents at issue allegedly cover basics of online commerce, including recommending products to a user based on what they are currently looking at, and allowing readers of a news story to see other stories based on the current one. Two other patents relate to showing other information on a web page, such as news updates or stock quotes.

An interesting, if not far fetched, theory was presented by Adam Curry: Allen is bring this lawsuit HOPING that he gets defeated as an attempt to put a major dent in the credibility and existence of software patents.

Yes MMS. My phone is a Motorola btw and T-mobile is my carrier but when I had a G1 it would do the same thing. Possibly the only thing I hate about the software.

Hmm. You may want to try up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-start

I need a little tech support. I went to BleacherReport.com and Digg.com and had some crazy font issues. I used both Chrome and FireFox (on a windows computer) and had the same problem. however, in IE8 it's completely fine. Below is an image of what the page looked like. Any ideas of what is wrong?

For those who are interested, Apple's press event today is being streamed live on Apple.com (for the first time ever I think), but you have to have an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or Mac running 10.6 Snow Leopard. My guess is that they are "showing off" their new streaming servers they will be using to stream content to your iTV, and iOS related devises.

For those not running 10.6, you will probably be able to watch the even on live.twit.tv

encoding?

Checked that. didnt change anything.

The only other thing it can be is your font/language. Being that it works fine for you in IE, it doesn't sound like a system preference.

Here's my confusion: It works great in IE8, but not Chrome or Firefox. AND, it's only those pages (well, maybe other pages I;ve never been to). Every other page renders just fine.

If you really want to change it, it kind of sucks, but in firefox you can go to...

Tools - Options - Content

Fonts & Colors - Advanced...

Uncheck "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above."

Just make sure you choose a good font like Arial, Tahoma etc for your default sans-serif font.

Edit: just realized this happens because some websites have fonts that you don't have installed on your computer so it displays as gibberish.

To take it further, it looks like you are missing Helvetica.

Well so far, I'd call Froyo an epic fail. After the update, my droid is slower, apps stopped working, and none of the things people have really complained about like battery life are not improved. More bloatware too - software you cannot uninstall in this case. And of course, you can't revert back.

Did people not learn anything from the debacle that was Vista? If you are going to add a bunch of new toys to a successful OS, you also need to invest in making sure you don't tank the OS performance. This upgrade has been a downgrade, and the message boards seem to have that as a theme right now.
