iWiN4PreP
damon is now our obi won kinobi star wars a new hope era. LOL. How good is Damon in the field? He doesn't have a very good arm, no? Would he be willing to DH fulltime?
Balta1701
QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) LOL. How good is Damon in the field? He doesn't have a very good arm, no? Would he be willing to DH fulltime? Damon is somewhere between bad and very bad in the field. He still has the ability to play it, but you only really want him playing out there if your other option is something like Adam Dunn or Jermaine Dye or Vlad Guerrero, where they're either terrible or likely to get hurt if they play the field. I think at this point, if anyone offered Damn $8 million a year, he'd be happy to DH full time. But no one's come anywhere close to his asking price. His camp started floating retirement rumors earlier this week.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) LOL. How good is Damon in the field? He doesn't have a very good arm, no? Would he be willing to DH fulltime? He actually has arguably the worst outfield arm in the entire league. This is a good article about why hes still out there. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writ...amon/index.html

And his nearest competition is currently penciled in as our starting left fielder.
heirdog
I recently saw a "Playing Lessons from the Pros" on golf channel with Johnny Damon and Bubba Watson (pro golfer). Watson is a super long hitter and said he would love to be on a major league team as a DH. Johnny replied that when he came back from a shoulder injury, he strictly DHed for awhile and it was awesome. So he would likely be open to keeping his noodle arm on the bench and just whacking away at the plate. Imagine Pierre leading off and hitting a punch and judy single and Damon coming up and smacking a homer to right. The high-5 at the plate would be so weak with their weak arm strengths! Jones could platoon at DH and fill in the OF/1B to give the guys days off and we would not have a need for Kotsay. We could reunite Kotsay and his OBP with Beane in Oakland and throw in Jayson Nix as a utility infielder and try and pry Chris Carter as our future 1B/DH to go along with Viciedo. Fast reply...can't make last statement green but that was sarcasm. Edited January 27, 2010 by heirdog

Rays Interested In Johnny Damon By Mark Polishuk [January 27 at 3:41pm CST] The Rays have interest in Johnny Damon as a DH candidate, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Sherman says the Rays are considering Damon even if they can't unload Pat Burrell. Sherman's sources believe Damon would be willing to play for $7MM, partially deferred. Too bad... YonderLaroche
Yankees signed Randy Winn... so no Damon in NY. He would be a good fit, but ANDRUW JONES is on the team.
