SOTU thread

Since I'm sure the odds are something will get discussed from this, here's a thread so that it doesn't wind up in the Dem thread.

My only commentary pre-speech is a quote from the West Wing:

“He’s required to give Congress information regarding the state of the Union. If he buys Congress a subscription to the Wall Street Journal, he’s fulfilled his Constitutional responsibility.”

Come on, ban on manimals...

And the drinking game for tonight is...every time the President says "on the left" as a straw-man to set up how moderate/bipartisan he is...drink.

These would be a lot more watchable if they told congress to keep their buts in their seats until the speech is over. Its the same thing no matter who is president. Whatever party the president is in, spends half the time jumping up and clapping like they never heard of such awesomeness. The other side has a grumpy look on their face. This years mini-SOTU that the republicans ran afterwards was stupid as well.

Nancy Pelosi had some sort of facial tick thing going on. That was scary.

She is due for another botox injection, probably.

I only saw bits and pieces, but Obama kinda shat on everyone today. Democrats and Republicans.

Can't say I agreed with his whole speech, but I was sorta impressed at how much he came off like an insult comic at times.

Again, he was campaigning. It's all the man knows how to do.

"CHANGE". Yea, ok. "Words, just words". That's about all.

You've said the same thing over and over again for two years. And frankly, its not true.

If all he knew how to do was campaign, he'd probably be doing a lot better in the polls and so would the Democrats.

I just watched 5 minutes and couldn't stand it anymore. It's the same spew for 2 years now. He's still campaigning.

I find it interesting that you would prefer a candidate/elected leader who, after getting elected, would stop working for what got him elected. I find it refreshing that someone actually is trying to follow through on the plan they "spewed" to get elected. Yep, he's continuing to campaign for the stuff that got him elected, as promised. I wish we had more, not less, leaders doing that. (Even if I do not agree with some of it).
