caulfield12
bad back for Fuentes, like Thome.... interestingly, Thome has 6 homers in 65 AB's this season (now 66) against lefties, including the one off Matty And Minnesota's park is like PetCo and Seattle as far as homers...unbelieveable game. 36 pitches now for Valverde. caulfield12
It's over. Let's hope this is the turning point and the Rangers can take advantage of pitching issues and take 2/3.

JorgeFabregas
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) Gerald Laird? REALLY? I ripped on Laird because of his hilarious headshot one warm day in Chicago. Then he did this: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CH...200606040.shtml Baseball is funny. Harry Chappas
I may start a main page thread so that we can put the Joe West hates the Sox thing to bed. He f***ed the Twins royally last night in that he gave the Tigers two runs with his antics at second base. The Twins not only lost but they wasted their entire pen and went to two starters and Crain threw 40 pitches. Oh and the Rangers are coming to town......and Baker has an elbow issue. Thank you Joe West and your abysmal crew. The twins should have lost 5 in a row instead they are 3-2....they get the job done.
BigSqwert
Matt Fox is expected to be called up from the minors to start against the Rangers on Friday. It's a minor surprise, but somebody has to start since Brian Duensing and Nick Blackburn both pitched in relief Thursday. Fox, 27, is 6-9 with a 3.95 ERA in 35 games (21 starts) with Triple-A Rochester this season, averaging 7.6 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9. Alex Burnett and Ron Delaney are also expected to be added to the active roster. Fox is not on the 40-man roster, but look for Justin Morneau to be moved to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding roster move. via Rotoworld
Benchwarmerjim
I think its universal among baseball fans: Joe West sucks that whole umpiring crew sucked all series. I think there were 6 blown calls (for both teams total) at second base alone. The strike zone folded in and out like an accordion. That said, the Twins defense sucked and has not been very good for most of the season (even though fielding % says the Twins are good. if you just watch of listen to a series, you'll understand) injuries are really putting and cramp on things. Kubel is getting a second MRI on his hand/wrist because it has not been healing. and the FO really screwed things up by not adding pitchers when rosters expanded (although Rochester has been playing 3 men down with pitchers being shut down for the season because of innings limits and injuries and just plain old crappy pitching) that said, sound like Hudson is coming back tonight. Sound like Fuentes should be ready to go. Slowey is eligible to come off the DL Sunday. Its not a lost cause yet. But man, the injury to Justin Morneau is really starting to show up in the boxscores because Cuddy is terrible at 1st and there is no power in the lineup (3 HR in the last 10 games, none since Sunday) will the hurricane affect your series in Boston? scenario
Morneau transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Matt Fox, a AAA pitcher called up to start against the Rangers.
Kyyle23
Joe West is just a horrible umpire, period. He needs to be seriously evaluated by the MLB and Umpires association, many of his calls seem to stem from whatever mood he is in

He needs to be seriously evaluated by the MLB and Umpires association, many of his calls seem to stem from whatever mood he is in The sad thing is, I wanted to like him for that Red Sox/Yankees/get your tails moving rant earlier this year, because he was totally right. Then we started paying attention to him during games. He's like Leslie Nielsen as the umpire in The Naked Gun.

Might be a blessing for the Twins honestly. Obviously they want Morneau, but they've done well without him in the lineup. Plus his a career .306 hitter with a .929 OPS pre All-Star break , and only a .260 hitter with a .791 OPS post All-Star break.
