RockRaines
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) So the one year wedding anniversary is in April and I'm trying to get out ahead of this thing. Did some internet research and it appears that there are two types of gifts for year 1...the traditional "paper" gift or the modern "clocks" gift. Did you guys follow these rules or did you just figure out your own gift? We dont really even celebrate ours, its new years eve and we order in food and watch movies. Thats about it. Reddy
Haha so... uhhh... My flight home to NYC from Charlotte was canceled, but I actually ALSO had a flight to LA booked for today that was booked by my job back when I was dating a girl in LA and was going to go see her after this gig. When we broke up, I bought this new flight. So... I... Well. I'm using that flight to LA and I'm going to be staying with my ex for two days before flying home after the storm on miles. My original flight was refunded, so it's a net win. And I get Valentines Day Ex Sex. Talk about an unEXpected win! StrangeSox
Reservations at 730, wasn't going to be seated until 930 last night. Good job, cooper's hawk. First time we tried to go out on Valentine's day in at least six years, last time for a while.

We went for breakfast yesterday morning and made a nice dinner at home last night. Much, much less annoying.
pettie4sox
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 15, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) Valentine's Day brings out the absolute worst people in the world. I am a server and the trash I dealt with last night was unbelievable. I heard so many racist comments from my coworkers last night. Avoid restaurants on Valentines Day everyone. Details or it didn't happen...
iamshack
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 15, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) I don't want to get specific but certain races were tipping far under the recognized minimum of 15%. Our servers have to tip out 3% of their sales to the bussers, food runners and bartenders so when a table tips $2.20 on a $127.80 bill we actually had instances of our servers paying to serve this trash. My year to date tip average was 19.8% going into yesterday. Yesterday I came out at 14.7%. I was lucky enough to have some great tables and my manager put gratuity on a party when that's against policy to save me so I made out okay but it was a horrible shift all around. Guys getting seriously racist, girls crying and a lot of people losing the desire to finish the shift in an acceptable manner as a result. It was just one day and our regular clientele is great but the crowd we had yesterday was unbelievable. Jeesh, one would think the guys would be at least pretending as though they were good tippers last night...
pettie4sox
Blacks... it's ok man. I know all about that s***. Black people are terrible tippers. Edited February 16, 2015 by pettie4sox

Saturday was the first vday in 7 years for us and it was at our country club which made it 200 percent more pleasurable. The last time we went out for this day we waited at Carmine's until 10:30 for our table and they stuck a random table in the hallway. Whitewashed in '05
Anyone been to a sushi restaurant where they served one plate, ~15 minute wait, next plate, ~15 minute wait, and so forth? I'm still a sushi newbie so not sure if this is just how some restaurants do it. This was on Saturday btw. Really no wait time to get seated though, we practically walked right in. Yeah, some places will deliver you whatever is ready at that time in no particular order.

That's incredible, Rabbit. If you are not going to play the 15-20 percent tip game, you shouldn't go out and be a customer. Please PM me details. witesoxfan
Jesus, a $5-10 tip on an $80 tab? I don't make a ton but I do everything I can to always tip between 18-25%. I'm also more sympathetic having worked in food service before, but those people are just cheapskates. It's like people that don't tip bartenders. If I'm drinking heavily, I may miss one now or then, but I will always tip $1-2 per drink.
RockRaines
Its funny how you develop a sixth sense on what groups wont tip you as soon as you first interact with them. It's almost always correct.
