Balta1701
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Loving that completion percentage from Cutler today, 80%. 116 QB Rating.
MurcieOne
QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Pats' D is very suspect. They need to do much better against Brady and a legit offense. When he has a DL in his face he is nothing special. Easier said than done, though. That really applies to every quarterback in the league. Tom Brady might be one of the best 2 or 3 QBs of all time. Just my .02. That being said, I think the Bears have a good chance to win this game at home. On the road, I'd be a little worried. The Bears luckily play their two hardest non-conference games at home this year (Pats, Jets) while getting two mediocre teams (Fins, Bills) on the road. Who cares? Just win baby. MurcieOne
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id...ars-24-lions-20 Watch the recap on the bottom of this post. . . a fan clearly gives "the shocker" right in front of the camera during Manumaleuna's TD catch. Chisoxfn
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Cutler played EXCELLENT today. This is the type of performance that many will forget but he helped will this team to victory. I am very impressed. He has played really really well for the past few weeks and is making much better decisions. Bears are converting 3rd downs and scoring and putting together long drives. Oline still burries them but this offense is getting better every week. Defense was horrendous today, but I"ll give the Lions credit. THey did a nice job getting Stanton into manageable situations and Stanton played well.

Defense was horrendous today, but I"ll give the Lions credit. THey did a nice job getting Stanton into manageable situations and Stanton played well. I don't remember Cutler making one bad decision today. The fumble was a product of Jay trying to make a play and the pocket completely imploding around him. Don't look now but Jay's current QB rating is the highest of his career. Imagine what he can do with even an average offensive line and more competent receivers. I actually want to give Lovie and the coaching staff some credit for at least one decision --> Devin Hester has seen a lot less time at WR and a lot more time at KR/PR. This is essentially an admission that the Hester at WR experiment was a failure, but at least he is back where he is most effective and Earl Bennett is getting more playing time. This coaching staff has shown a greater willingness to hold people accountable and be flexible this year. I appreciate that.
Balta1701
Anyone else thrilled to know that ESPN's headline on this game is Iffy call helps out Bears The Chicago Bears beat the Detroit Lions thanks in part to a questionable call. Again.
bmags
I really don't think that call was questionable. A blow that hard to the head is clearly done to injure someone. The league is trying to have less of that.
Balta1701
If I'm reading this right, the 1st and 2nd tiebreakers for the #1 pick are the conference and division records. So, if Carolina beats Seattle today, that should put the Bills back in the lead for the #1 pick, with 0 division wins and 1 conference win. Am I wrong here? chw42
I don't see how it really helped when the play was on a 1st and 10 on the Detroit 22. It wasn't like we weren't gonna score or something. Plus, when the ball came loose, that wouldn't have been a fumble. ESPN just looking for storylines, as always. MurcieOne
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) I really don't think that call was questionable. A blow that hard to the head is clearly done to injure someone. The league is trying to have less of that. It was a judgment call and at full speed it sure looked like Suh gave Cutler a forearm to the back of the head. What really annoys me is that people are arguing that this call determined the game. Cutler ran for 8 yards on 1st down and the team was given 7 yards on the penalty. It would have been 2nd at 2 from the 14 and instead it was 1st and goal from the 7. The Bears were controlling the game at this point and probably would taken the lead anyway. Annoying.

Kevin Seifert restores some sanity. DETROIT -- Honestly, I don't get what all the fuss is about on the latest Detroit Lions penalty controversy. On the play, referee Ed Hochuli whistled Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for unnecessary roughness after an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter by Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. The Bears were already in excellent shape and would have faced a second-and-2 at the Lions' 14-yard line. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id...-forearm-shiver

MurcieOne
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) Go Tampa Bay...ex Bear Gilmore with a TD. Damn, KR for TD for ATL Do the Bears want TB or ATL to win this game? If ATL wins it could essentially eliminate TB from the playoffs (which is good for the Bears). If TB wins then the Bears are tied atop the NFC at 9-3. Based on the difficulty of the Bears remaining games, I think I want ATL to pull this one out. Some more than others. Brady is not mobile at all and a lot of the reason he gets the protection he does is because of the blitz recognition (like Manning) but if they can get to him without blitzing he'll fall apart. Yes that is already more true of our defense than it is most others, but if you can beat the Pats OL one on one, it's an uphill battle for Brady. Like I said it's a lot easier to say this than to actually do it.
