Y2HH
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) LOL, whatever. Brett Favre is a royal douche and I was hoping Wooten broke him in half. You can laugh it off all you want, but what's it say about you that you feel that way? I mean, honestly...wishing that upon anyone is just...it makes you a bad person, and if that's what sports brings out of you, you need to not watch them. RockRaines
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) This has always been my problem with Bears fans and their general arrogance that they get from who knows where. They're so easy to dislike because they have that "Cub" like mentality that they're the most awesomeist thing ever when in fact, they aren't. They want praise for everything their team does, but don't like to give praise to anyone else. When they win on a fluke play, it's part of the game, when they lose, it's not because the other team beat them, it's because they didn't show up, or some other such nonsense. I don't apply this mentality to all Bears fans, either...but there are the many, as I like to put it, 'Da Bers" fans...and this is directed at you if you're amongst them. Have you had a s***ty day or something? You've basically described every NFL fan across the country. They have made movies about NFL fans and they ridiculous amount of hope that abounds before every season starts. Have you ever actually lived anywhere else in the country? I can tell you first hand that eve Bengals and Browns fans think and act that way about their teams. Its the reason the NFL is the most popular sport in the country. Maybe you should concentrate on something a little tamer...knitting perhaps? Not what I said WHATSOEVER. I support the White Sox blindly, and that's not a negative, nor did I say it was. Supporting a team, blindly or otherwise, has NOTHING to do with wishing injury upon competing teams/players, nor taking pleasure out of the injury of others. Chi Town Sox
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) When Cutler wins a single playoff game in the NFL, he will start getting more respect from these types -- and not until. I love Cutler, he plays hard and takes risks, and he's fun to watch because of these things...but in the NFL, he's proven absolutely nothing yet, to pretend or to say otherwise is false. This has always been my problem with Bears fans and their general arrogance that they get from who knows where. They're so easy to dislike because they have that "Cub" like mentality that they're the most awesomeist thing ever when in fact, they aren't. They want praise for everything their team does, but don't like to give praise to anyone else. I don't apply this mentality to all Bears fans, either...but there are the many, as I like to put it, 'Da Bers" fans...and this is directed at you if you're amongst them. I don't think the majority of people are pissed about Dilfer because he says what Cutler does wrong, it's just that unlike some of the other analysts, he completely ignores any type of positives surrounding the Bears. Which, honestly, I could care less about but I know what you are getting at Sure he mentions his great tools and whatnot, but the hatred is very noticeable. Cutler is having a really good season for having a TERRIBLE offensive line that has been moved around like a game of chess and also in a new offense with a large group of #2 receivers (but with talent) at best right now. Sure he makes mistakes, everyone sees that and knows that but if you are an analyst, analyze. Don't bash all day, he has literally bashed the Bears (now the first team to clinch a playoff birth) more than any other team that I can remember. It's hilarious If we were the Cleveland Browns/Buffalo Bills playing out of our minds like this, everyone would understand the hate. This team has a very talented QB with some talent around him and a very talented defense but overall is inconsistent BUT has gotten the job done and is in the playoffs. I've tried to clear it up for you multiple times now, but you still don't get it. Being a rabid fan that loves your team and loves seeing them win has f***ing NOTHING to do with taking enjoyment out of the injury or the "hoping for injury" of others. Steve9347
I will say, call it posturing, call it hokey, call it what you want, but Favre taking the field yesterday was pretty badass if you ask me. He may kind of be a turd with all of his drama, but the dude just loves playing football and I'm not going to hate on him for that. I especially enjoyed his pregame speech in the huddle. I'd definitively say we've seen the last of Brett Favre vs. the Bears, but who really knows. I have a hard time seeing him come back after this season. This I have no problem with. It's a fine line I'm walking here among the rabid NFL fans, but let me explain my stance, because most of you seemed to have missed my point entirely. I have no issue with a person getting injured in football, that's the name of the game...what I do have a problem with, and I dealt with it yesterday, and today, is people actively hoping that not only do the Bears get to Favre, but they injure him in a possible life altering way...and because it's football, it's ok to hope for that. Call me whatever you want, I just don't get that mentality, nor do I like it. Not in the NFL, and not in any other sports. Another example, AJ ramming Barrett and scoring a run, this is part of the game, and it was a great play. But wishing AJ had physically hurt Barrett during that play, not the same...at least to me.
