QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 02:09 PM)
Can Julius Peppers be the scoring big man that the Bulls have been waiting for?

Well... he was a pretty good basketball player.. but he's only 6'6 and with his weight, he'd be an undersized SF/PF.

LOL, sour grapes much?

Kampman 2 seasons with 10+ sacks

Peppers 6 seasons with 10+ sacks

They both have played the same amount of time in their careers.

Kampman 54 total sacks

Peppers 81.

Not just as good, and not younger either.

Wtf are you talking about sour grapes? I don't give a f*** that the Bears got Peppers and the Packers are losing Kampman. Could care less, neither player fits in our system and are not worth the money imo. Packers never make noteworthy free agent signings anyways so I'm not expecting anything.

I'm just relaying information from what I see on other sites, I don't have the time nor care to look up ages and stats, didn't know I needed to be specifically accurate, one wrong little sentence and everyone jumps on you all at once, ridiculous.

No f***ing kidding Peppers is better, just saying I would rather have Kampman for less because he will probably give you just as good production this coming year.

Blah blah.

You said he was better, cheaper and younger. So far 2 out of 3 of those are incorrect. What do you expect on a Bears-heavy site, especially when you are trying to make it look like the signing of the top FA on the market is a terrible move. Maybe next time post your own thoughts instead of re-purposing the garbage from that "other site"

If your gonna make a statement, at least have the facts to back up your bite (not to mention getting a good damn age difference wrong is not helping your input or knowledge.) Drink some milk and eat some cookies or something. Your taking what Rock said too seriously.

Your using a guy they signed in 1993 to prove his point wrong? :lolhitting

To be fair... he did say.. "never" not "in the last 10-15 years".

With a good pass rush the corners and safties are not asked to do what they have been asked in previous years. Alex Brown as the left end could be huge and Mark Anderson is now the swing guy.

A Tommy Harris ressurrection and Urlacher comeback put the defense in the top five.

My hopes were high last year too....

I just want to point out one thing. The players in the NFL tend to think that Peppers is one of the 5 best defensive players in the league. I'm not saying he is or isn't, but that is a f***ing great reputation to have.

The Bears now have 2 guys on the Dline that have regularly commanded double-teams (Harris and Peppers).

I've ripped on Harris but the facts do show that he still garners a s***laod of attention from the opposing defenses and in the few games he was out last year our defense went from mediocre to horrendous.

Really? He signed in '93 I believe, but that just further shows the impact Green Bay has made through free agency, hardly anything. So besides Woodson it has been like 10 or so years since we signed someone who has made I guess a notable impact you could call it.

I shouldn't have to keep repeating myself by saying I didn't look up the age or stats, just relayed from another site, that is allowed isn't it? Others do it too. I didn't break some rule I didn't know about on this site did I, get over it.

I never said it was a bad signing, Peppers fills a need for your team, I personally didn't want GB to pay what Kampman and Peppers were asking. Never said Kampman was better, said I'd rather have him since he is cheaper and will probably give the same production next season if healthy, you can't argue this til next season is over.

No duh Peppers is better, never said he wasn't, read.

And...you basically just reiterated what rock said, was that really necessary?

To be fair... he did say.. "never" not "in the last 10-15 years".

True, but that is still a long ass time ago since Woodson was signed, just proves GB hasn't really done anything noteworthy in the offseason and why I expect nothing to happen like usual.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 02:25 PM)
Now, they only need some CBs, a #1 WR and some OL help.

In theory in a cover 2 system having a good pass rush makes your CBs better and in Martz' O, the TE from SD they signed is akin to upgrading your line... I stress the "in theory" party, we will see how it plays out.

As long as they're front loading the Peppers deal in the uncapped year I like this signing, the team flat out needed more talent and with Taylor and Peppers they have added talent.

Bears have doled out 33M in up front moneys (20M for Peppers, 6M for Mamu, 7M for Taylor). Still have safety to address.

well, that answers my question, considering this is an uncapped year, that makes me feel a lot better about this deal.

Ok ok, lay off the Packer fan (for now)

The funny thing is that is has nothing to do with being a Packer fan, and everything to do with making terrible statements that arent even remotely true.

One thing to consider is that the DE, #3 pick in the draft last year got over 30M in guaranteed money and a 54M contract. I'd rather go with the proven stud in Peppers myself.

We weren't talking about the Packers, Peppers and Kampman. I was sort of but not directly to anybody, more so expressing my displeasure with Green Bay's lack of moves in every off season.

have you heard any scuttle on what they may have in mind for this off-season? Also, what's the rumbling on what happened during the playoff game to the D, kind of an anomaly or cause of concern? Personally I think they have a very good D and that was just kind of a fluke game.
