chimpy2121
Lmao. Typical FSU team, no pitching and no defense. Shouldn't be surprised. Oh well, we would have gotten crushed by UCLA.
zenryan
Chimpy--How do you feel about Martin when it comes to recruiting/developing pitchers? From an outside of FSU who only will see the boxscore or an occasional game on SunSports, it seems like he doesnt put enough emphasis on it. Gilmartin is nice but I wouldnt think of him as a sure-fire ace. Outside of Gilmartin who is consistent for the most part, it seems like a lot of hit or miss guys. For as long as I remember, it seems like FSU can beat the daylights out of the ball but once in a tournament format, the holes in the pitching staff get bigger. You know better than me of course so I was curious on your take.

Now you can see that he isn't really an ace like he appeared to be last season. I blame Martin for the pitchers because he still has Shouppe on staff. Shouppe has taken a terrible approach to recruiting and developing pitchers. He won't go after guys that throw hard. He would rather go for the junk ballers. Even if we are lucky enough to get a kid that throws mid to upper 90s, he makes him change his delivery and slows everything up. One of my friends is really close friends with a pitcher on the team that used to throw 94-95 in JUCO. Shouppe brought him in (he was from Tallahassee anyways), made him drop down, and now he's been getting rocked. It's frustrating. Martin is too loyal to Shouppe, much like Bobby was to loyal to Jeff. I really thing it'll come back to bite him. I really like Jr. though, but my fear is that we'll hire him to replace Martin just because what Martin has done for the school. Jr. is a great hitting coach, but I don't feel like he's ready for a head job. I would rather like to see him go to a place like Jacksonville or Stetson first. zenryan
South Carolina was getting up there in number of appearances without winning the title. Clemson is second at 12 and I'm sure their fans are really pissed right about now.

I work in an office full of Clemson fans, and nothing makes me happier than to be able to say "Not only did we eliminate you by winning 2 straight, AGAIN (2002 as well), but we've now won it all.
