iamshack
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 10, 2010 -> 08:22 AM) Watched State of Play last night via netflix. Decent thriller. I probably liked it more since I had very low expectations. Yeah, I agree. Fairly decent twist at the end, but nothing too memorable. One of the few movies I could tolerate Affleck in. I watched 2012 and A Perfect Getaway on Saturday night. 2012 was a little better than I expected, but still incredibly implausible. A Perfect Getaway I was very pleasantly surprised with. One of the better acting jobs I have seen in awhile, both from Jovovich and Steve Zahn. Timothy Olyphant was pretty solid as well. Much better than I was expecting. Kyyle23
Some of the choices for Superman are baffling. It is no wonder why that franchise has been in development hell for the better part of the past 25 years
G&T
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ May 10, 2010 -> 03:46 AM) Meh. Both Howard and Cheadle are very forgettable in the role. That being said it's a pretty fun action movie. I didn't really dig Mickey Rourke's character. I'm still trying to figure out what his beef was, and I couldn't really figure out if he was a bad guy or a good guy. And all that stuff about the new element... chincy plot device that made my eyes gloss over. I think his dad helped build the technology that led to the energy core of the Iron Man suit, but was kicked off the project for some reason which led him to be sent back to Russia and live in poverty...er something like that. caulfield12
QUOTE (G&T @ May 10, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) I think his dad helped build the technology that led to the energy core of the Iron Man suit, but was kicked off the project for some reason which led him to be sent back to Russia and live in poverty...er something like that. That was the implication, that Tony's dad was a "robber baron/thief," that Vanko (the father) was the developer of the technology and it was stolen out from underneath him....then he was deported to Russia before he could mount a legal counter-attack. Hence, the vendetta motivation, to get back for his family what he felt was unjustly taken...although that didn't make much sense, he never personally tried to profit exactly. As someone mentioned, not the strongest plot point. I tried to watch Valentine's Day and made it to the 80 minute mark...should I even bother watching the ending? Such a waste of 21 talented performers, minus Swift (annoying!) and Lautner. And I heard more "holiday-themed" movies are coming from Gary "Pretty Woman" Marshall. bigklita
I saw Iron Man 2 the other day. I liked it. It's not going to win any of the major awards, but it was still good. The first one is better though. I did like the inclusion of the Captain American shield and Thor's hammer after the credits were over. Anyone else looking forward to Robin Hood?
