Huge fan of Fisher King, and most of Gilliam's stuff.

Fully agreed on both accounts. Although it wasn't as good as the book, Fear and Loathing remains one of my favorite movies to this day.

Going to see Machete today.. can't wait. It's going to be awesome.

I had to split Chinatown viewings over two nights. I'm a tired old man, what can I say?

But, damn what a fantastic film that is. Godfather Godfather II good. I think this and Cukoo's Nest have to be without question the defining films of Nicholson's career.

Considering what it meant for his career I think Easy Rider has to be in that list.

I'm pretty sure it is basically an exact remake. It'll make money, especially since I doubt it could have cost too much to make.

Hm, just looked it up on Wikipedia. They have it set in New Mexico. I don't know why they would drastically change the setting of the film. I figured they would have it set in Maine or Minnesota.

Odd, lots of films are made in New Mexico, perhaps the barren landscape can create an equally eerie atmosphere. I'll read some reviews and maybe I'll see this in a year. I imagine I'll just get frustrated though because I get a lot more annoyed with kid actors in English films because I have to pay more attention to their words pitch and delivery.

I'm currently in the process of reading The Blind Side and I have the movie waiting for me once I'm done. Very excited.

I haven't seen the movie (and I won't), but the book is fantastic. The movie looks like a bulls*** Hollywood version that makes white Christian women feel good about themselves. No thanks.

That is very accurate to what it was.

That's what I figured. I don't see why anyone would have to see the movie if they've already read the book. I mean, unless they have some sort of Sandra Bullock fetish or something.

Absolutely loved the Town and I really cant even tolerate Affleck as an actor under any circumstance but he pulled this one off pretty well.

Favorite scene is when he went into the Florists place after the final s*** went down.

I thought it was great. My favorite scene was this:

Affleck: I need your help...I can't tell you what it's about, you can never ask me about it later, and we're going to hurt some people.

Renner: Whose car we taking?

Yeah, it was awesome.

That could be, but the atmosphere from the original movie was, to me, the single most important aspect of it. I love when the setting of a movie becomes a character. I'm not sure if anyone here has seen 30 Days Of Night, but the setting was pretty similar and was probably the biggest reason I enjoyed the movie so much.

Ten years ago I never would believe this, but I'm starting to like Affleck more than Damon.

Yeah, GoldenEye isn't a big deal. And Daniel Craig is a much better Bond anyway. Too bad the franchise is in trouble though.

That would make a good discussion in the film thread. Stupid MGM screwing things up for a franchise that finally was heading the right direction again

Video Game thread hijack!

I watched Quantum of Solace about 3 months ago for the first time.

It was pretty awkward seeing the movie based in pre earthquake Haiti.

Casino Royale was alright (certainly an upgrade of the schlock at the end of Brosnan's era), but Quantum of Solace was nearly unwatchable. I had to turn it off at 30 minutes.

I disagree, I really enjoyed both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, I like the pace and tone of both movies. And I especially like that they took out the tongue in cheek hokiness that crept into the series at the end of the brosnan era

Agreed on all fronts. Craig is just such a better Bond and the vision for Bond is so much more simpler, but has the same level of badassness. QOS was not great, but it was still a very good movie. Casino Royale was just magnificent. Vesper stole my heart.

Daniel Crag = best James Bond. Discuss. Also, 007 Franchise in limbo and jeopardy because of MGM/Sony. Discuss that too. Ready and GO!

Looks like it's being discussed. Thanks mod! Lol.
