I am not a grammer expert here...but I believe it is supposed to maybe be a soft "u" which sounds like a soft "O" but he was using a hard "O" sound. Putz is pronounced "puhts" as in Yiddish for penis/fool But JJ pronounces it "pŏŏts" as in "puts" due to its Yiddish definition.
