SoxAce
Great interview. Thanks for reminding bschmaranz. Franks' son is going to college next year to play ball. Some prospect geeks like myself can't possibly wait to see how he develops. He's got a long way to go though like Frank said as he picked up baseball late. wilmot825
I love how he took a shot at Cub fans by saying "they are just there for the atmosphere and party."

That'd be awesome if he played but that's also a s***-ton of pressure, I mean, your dad and granddad are both HOFs?

Yeah I don't know why I said that, lol. In my head I was thinking "All-Star" and I started thinking about Griffey Jr. and wrote "Hall of Famer"

Totally disagree. But I'm not going to get all uberstatty here. He's going in the HOF.

He's going in the HOF. idk, you never hear buzz about his name, ever. It's funny though because Griffey Sr. was a pretty decent player but when you compare his stats to his son's, he looks so average.

rockren
I just watched it thanks to my DVR... Franks represented himself with class as always. I've always been proud to call him my favorite baseball player growing up and am just as proud today to say he's why I'm a WSox fan.

Trey would seem like the type of kid who could pick up a bat/glove, thinks he's not that good, and still be better than most (if not all) of the people on his team. Pure talent you can't teach, but who knows. Hopefully Mark can give Branden Buehrle a ball and glove and we'll draft him in 20 years or so.. Pants Rowland
QUOTE (rockren @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 12:51 AM) I just watched it thanks to my DVR... Franks represented himself with class as always. I've always been proud to call him my favorite baseball player growing up and am just as proud today to say he's why I'm a WSox fan. You know, for years I was pretty disappointed in the way Frank handled himself publicly. As great a hitter as he was, I thought he cared way too much about his numbers and really didn't at least try to make his defense a little closer to average. I also never saw him as a selfless leader of his teams. With that said, that interview showed a man who has made tremendous strides in life with great perspective. He could have justifiably been upset that he was robbed of the MVP in 2000 or spoken out against other major leaguers that used PEDs. Rather, without rattling off stats, he just lets his career speak for itself. He has grown up tremendously and seems at peace with his career, the fans, and the organization that drafted him. I also think his assessment of the typical fans on the north side was spot on and showed no hint of spite. His maturity and dignity strikes me as that of a true hall of famer.
