Wow. I remember coming out of that game impressed with Wofford, thought it was closer, although the Illini needed a 2nd half run to make it double digits. Looking at the schedule, that was the game before the whole season fell apart.

I watched that game. Illinois just got hot in the 2nd half. Wofford played well to hang as long as they did.

Turner wasn't a backup plan, they had 5 scholarships in that class and he was their top target at the SF position. He might not have gotten the love that Gordon and Rose got but they wanted him badly.

He said that he waited for the offer from Illinois that didnt come until after OSU and Wisco. Because of that he had no interest.

Yeah, Turner really shouldn't complain. Weber wanted to get his stars in before secondary players. Who could blame him or anyone else really? If you had a shot at Rose and Gordon or Evan Turner, you would go after the two studs first.

It could be debated if they ever really had a shot at Rose, but yeah, it's more hinsight to blame Bruce for the Turner thing, I admit it. But it's still a reason to hate on Weber, so I do it anyways. :cheers

Horrible reffing so far in the Kentucky game. Kentucky is getting every call possible. BTW, John Wall sucks! Most overrated player ever.

Not that it matters at this point. I know Kentucky is vulnerable, but I'll vomit if this team wins the title. At least with Kansas, I knew it wasn't dirty.

Kentucky is absolutely terrifying when they get running, but I can't see them winning it all because eventually, somebody will slow them down, and John Wall cannot run a half court offense right now. I'm assuming that somebody is West Virginia, but the more I think about it, the more the people I was debating the other day might have a point that the Cornell/Wisconsin winner could give them a game too.

Also, New Mexico getting a #3 seed was an absolute joke. Biggest seeding joke I think I have ever seen in the NCAA Tournament, and while Montana almost showed why, Washington most definitely completely showed it.

Dont give Bill Self that much credit

Nice of Wisconsin to show up today. Cornell is a really good team and a really really good shooting team, but they were just wide open all day. Never thought it'd see a defensive performance like that from a Bo Ryan team (they also got spanked in the rebounding department,) especially with the opponent from the Ivy League. Cornell vs. Kentucky is going to be really interesting to watch.

The only chance Cornell would have is if they unplugged the shot clock.

Cornell can make a ton of shots as we saw today, so they have a chance in theory. The problem is they shoot the ball pretty fast (first open shot is going up,) and if they try and play even reasonably fast against Kentucky, they'll get run off the floor.

Im not sure if it was an entirely bad defensive performance, an amazing offensive performance or both. I think Cornell is going to have real trouble with Kentucky if they try and play at the same pace they did today. And I expect Kentucky to bring pressure early which could increase the pace even more.

Cornell plays at an extremely slow pace. They won't play fast against Kentucky. They are near the top of d1 in term of offensive efficiency, which is what of course makes them so dangerous.

I thought they had played slow this season, but obviously I hadn't see a great deal of them. They weren't playing slow today though, and they'll have to go back to their usually slow pace, while also shooting as well as they did today, to have any chance aginst Kentucky.

Yeah, actually the slower paced teams have done very well for themselves this tourney.

Unadjusted/Adjusted Pace-Tempo rating out of 347:

Cornell 259/241

Ohio State 284/243

Butler 289/277

WVU 294/308

ODU 317/304

Pitt 321/323

Wisconsin 342/341

and finally:

UNI 345/342

Cornell knew what they were doing. Going against one of the 7 teams in the tourney actually slower than them, speeding the game up worked wonders.

It just looks, to me, that the right teams are falling and opening a path to a Kentucky title. Ugh

Only saving grace is that it will probably be taken away in a few years.

There is no argument that Kentucky is the most talented team in the field. They have two of the top five picks or so, plus a couple of more kids that are going to go in the first round.

We very well may get a regional title game with two of the shadiest coaches in college basketball, Calipari and Huggins.

Ehh all of the top coaches in college athletics are shady really. The difference is a guy like Calipari is an outright, proven cheater.

Some more than others. And I think pretty much every coach could get a better graduation rate than the one Huggins had at Cincy.
