The hate DeWayne Wise received last season will pail in comparison to that Mark Kotsay will get this year, barring a surprisingly strong season from him. I almost feel bad for guys like that, it's not their fault Kenny Williams failed to do his job, thus forcing them into roles in which they are more relevant than they should be on a squad.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 03:38 PM)
Every time except for the one cub game that I watch, the White Sox seem to be getting no hit or have only a hit or two. Jsut like today.

Get used to it, you'll be seeing it a lot. We're going to have a pitching staff full of guys with sore backs by July with as much as they'll have to carry the team.

Heh, the announcer got all excited on a Juan Pierre flyball to left like it was going to get over the fielder's head. I'd venture to guess that Juan won't put a single ball over the left fielders head all year. It's a struggle for him to hit the ball 280 feet the opposite way.

Repeat after me, Spring Training is about getting work in and not about results. See Anderson, Brian the king of ST for a reference of HOF ST guys who can't hit the same pitchers when they move north.

Breaking ball pitchers particularly have issues in Arizona in ST. Breaking pitches do not have the depth that they do when they leave. Guys are just throwing to the glove, getting their work in, working on a location or pitch. This is why guys like Brian Anderson can look like the next version of Willie Mays in Arizona only to get punked when breaking pitches start to dart and dive. Also with about 2 weeks to go most starting pitchers start to get a dead arm period as part of the process of building their arm up to push 90 to 100 pitches.
