SoxFan1
I'm starting to experience some pain in the left side of my mouth, my gums are a bit swolen, and the left side of my jaw is locking up a bit, and I'm pretty sure it means I need to get my molars removed, which sucks. Anyone have a similar experience?
farmteam
Yeah, they were telling me to get them removed for awhile, but I finally did it last summer. Some people they are fine right away, some are out for a week. I was somewhat in the middle. The day I had it done I was fine, though obviously my mouth hurt it bit. But on Monday (I had it done on a Friday morning), I felt like complete crap, and I continued to feel like that for 5 or so days. Admittedly, that might have been a reaction to the Amoxycillin they gave me to prevent infection.
JPN366
I was x-rayed and I only have two wisdom teeth, and they're both on the left side. I let them come in because there was room for them.
kev211
Got them out like a year and half ago, no pain it was a breeze and I was eating solid food the next day. But everyone seems to be different.
MHizzle85
QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) Got them out like a year and half ago, no pain it was a breeze and I was eating solid food the next day. But everyone seems to be different. Pretty much the same with me. It was a hassle the first day, but I was fine after that.
G&T
I got all of mine out a long while back. I was in agony for days. It was awful. Everyone is different though.

Anyone have a similar experience? Could be a dry socket, which means (I believe) the scab over the gums has opened up and you have air on sensitive nerves, thus causing your pain. Mine was also a bad experience. All four of mine were impacted I was bad for about a week. Like Heads, oh the painkillers.
BigSqwert
I only had 3 of them and had them removed. I remember being partially awake during surgery.
Steve9347
Put me in the "no problem" category. I didn't even use the pain killers.
Heads22
I was awake during surgery. Slav, hit me up on AIM tonight and I'll walk you through it. The surgery is a breeze, especially if they use nitrous, because, honestly, it's kind of a fun experience. Any pain or problems will likely occur afterward. Brian
I was out for mine. It was a piece of cake. No worries. One tip, when you are home, instead of the gauze they give you, use paper towels. No joke.
3E8
It could just be the wisdom teeth poking through the gums. That hurts for a day or so but soon goes away. I would advise not getting the wisdom teeth removed. My dentists practically made (and still do on each visit) it seem like my life is in danger by leaving them in. But they haven't affected my other teeth at all, even though they said there was no room at all. It's an unnecessary procedure which too many people accept without questioning
Chisoxfn
I got mine out, was in mild pain the 1st day and little pain going forward. Was eating chips by day 4 or so. Normal foods by day 2. Only part that sucks is the period where you need to clean the holes with fluids to prevent infection (cause food gets stuck in them). That and spitting out blood and not being able to actually brush for 2-3 days. They give u this stuff to swish and spit.
WilliamTell
I remember being partially awake during the surgery as well. The thing I remember most was the root cracking of one of them. It hurt for a few days, but then I was fine.
knightni
Don't wait too long to remove them. If they get impacted, they'll need to cut/chisel them out of your jaw and you'll be in pain for weeks.

I last visited the dentist over the summer and they said there was no issues, so I'm assuming this is a temporary problem. I'll just wait and see for a couple days. ChWRoCk2
Had all 4 removed, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I was put to sleep, first day or two it is a hassle to clean and stuff but you will be eating solid food in no time.
Flash Tizzle
I had all four wisdom teeth removed at different times, but it was the last one that left a lasting impression because it was the most painful experience of my life. Most of the tooth was beneath the gums, so what the oral surgeon had to do was cut open my gums AND break apart the tooth because it couldn't be removed in one tug. I was honestly crying it was so painful, even with local anesthetic. Afterward my jaw was swollen for nearly two weeks, and there was a small void left over from the removal of the tooth. I had to take special care with brushing my teeth, including gargling with salt water, and additionally had to make sure food didn't accumulate in the indentation and cause infection. I'd say it took 5-6 months for the hole to cover up. I always had this fear that the hole would cover up with some piece of food lodged in haha. Heads22
All four of mine were below the gums and required cutting into the gum and removing it in pieces. I had nitrous and Novocain. If you're on nitrous, you honestly don't give a s*** what is happening. The Novocain takes care of the rest. The most painful part is the next day, but it's more of a moderate ache. I did wake up the next morning with a mouth full of blood, though.

SoxFan1
Ok, I'm starting to freak out a little bit. The left side of my jaw will not close. WTF is going on? EDIT: I guess it's TMJ. Ugh.
