retro1983hat
As many of you probably know, this will be the last season of 24. I first started watching it during the 2nd season and was so hooked I rented season 1 on DVD. This was really a great show but I don't think it will get the historical television appreciation that it should. IMO Jack Bauer should go down as one of the top 10 TV characters of all time. IMO here is that top 10 list: Ralph Kramden Lucy Archie Bunker Homer Simpson JR Ewing Tony Soprano Heathcliff Huxtable Jack Bauer Fred Sanford Alex P Keaton Here's a few Jack Bauer-isms as well: Fact ID Rating > #3638 3.67 There has not been a terrorist attack in the United States since Jack Bauer first appeared on television. #3426 3.64 Ordinary people have panic attacks. Chuck Norris has Jack Bauer's attacks! #3629 3.64 Jack Bauer doesn't need to search the internet, he just stares a computer down until it gives him the information he needs. #920 3.63 Terrorists dread the day in October that Daylight Savings Time ends. Jack Bauer gets 25 hours in which to kill them. #3591 3.60 if Jack Bauer was Spartan in the movie 300, the movie would be called 1. #896 3.60 If everyone listened to Jack Bauer, the show would be called 12. #3297 3.60 jack bauer once shot himself ten times, just to prove that 50 cent is a b**** #915 3.59 Kiefer Sutherland drinks to forget all the terrible things Jack Bauer has done. #3634 3.56 Jack Bauer once lost reception on his cell phone. 24 hours later AT&T announced that it would have more bars in more places. #942 3.54 Jack Bauer once won a game of Connect 4 in 3 moves. FlaSoxxJim
While I don't necessarily agree that Jack Bauer is one of the top 10 teevee characters (I've seen 24 exactly zero times), I think you have come up with a great idea for the next SoxTalk list! Knightni. . . I'm looking in your direction! Seriously though, how can you not have Gilligan in your top 10 teevee list?!?
BigEdWalsh
Kick Jack Bauer out, put Marshall Dillon in.
FlaSoxxJim
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 12:22 AM) Kick Jack Bauer out, put Marshall Dillon in. And then sit back as Captain James T. Kirk kicks the sh*t out of Cliff Huxtable and his ugly sweaters. This needs to be a SoxTalk list.
Balta1701
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) This needs to be a SoxTalk list. Correct. One commentary on Jack Bauer and 24...it really summed up, defined, and even influenced the political environment of about 3-4 years of the U.S. in a way that I'm not sure any other show has done in my lifetime. Jack Bauer is f***ing awesome.
Steve9347
You can't RIP a show that will have a Major Motion picture soon.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) You can't RIP a show that will have a Major Motion picture soon. I think the only reason they keep saying that is that it keeps it as a surprise when the final episode finally kills Jack.
Steve9347
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) I think the only reason they keep saying that is that it keeps it as a surprise when the final episode finally kills Jack. I don't see a reason to kill off Jack Bauer. The final episode will have him meeting up with Kim and his granddaughter.

I'll have to take your word for it. Just seems like the guy doesn't do squat all year and then he has one really busy day and it's a big deal. Just hang out at the beach drinking beer for 364 days a year and work one day. Of course that one day sucks...

maggsmaggs
I love 24, but it's easy to see they have run the gambit on different types of terrorists attacks. Excited for the movie however. Being a Seinfeld fan, I would put Kramer in the top ten. Although Seinfeld was so great b/c of writing and character cohesion, Kramer to me still made that show. See now I would go with George. You can't lose with him or Kramer though
zenryan
I watched the first 5 episodes this year and gave up on it. Then I heard last week that 24 is ending so last night I watched 6 straight episodes and I'm hooked again. I'll probably start ep 12 sometime today since I've been up over 24 hours and I'm ready for a nap.
