FlaSoxxJim
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) When I was an 18 year old prospective freshman at Illinois, during the orientation, my group leader told us that as we toured the campus, other groups would be yelling I-L-L at us. We should respond with I-N-I. I confess that I walked around all day having no idea why we were yelling I-L-L and I-N-I at each other. And it only took me 7 years to get my BS. Only slightly more confusing was if you attended UofI around 1985 when the university hosted the first Farm Aid concert. For the next several years at large student gatherings, the "I-L-L!. . . I-N-I!!" call and response was randomly replaced with "1-8-Hundred!. . . FARM-AID!!" If you weren't originally in attendance at the concert you were just totally dumbfounded by it all.
