Bolt, if it was such a bad decision, then Oz should really be put on coals tonight by the media, maybe even disciplined by the owner.

Instead, the move is completely understandable. Good teams get the single to win the game right there. We didn't.

I agree there were other options, have Juan steal on the first pitch, then bunt him over or hit and run with Gordon. Obviously those would have been better options since the bunt didn't work in hindsight.

Marco Scutaro, the Jays' leadoff hitter was on base 38% of the time last year. Aaron Hill had 1 sacrifice bunt in 734 PA in the 2 hole. The Jays scored 4.93 runs per game last year, good for 6th in the AL, they were .08 runs off of the #4 team.

Do you know why Hill rarely bunted? Because he's a very good hitter and typically you don't take the bat out of the hands of very good hitters.

If Ozzie wants Pierre on 2B then he should be stealing, not taking the bat out of the hands of the team's best hitter.

Did I mention the worst offense in the AL also led the league in SH last year? Sure the Mariners only scored 3.95 runs per game but they had 56 sacrifice hits! That's gotta count for something, right?

I think it'd be best to avoid Soxtalk until the Sox are 5 games up. After game 1 we were Series bound, two games later and it's fire Ozzie and blow it up.

Dear God, people. We hit a lot of balls hard, right at people, and the Tribe had more bloops in the last two days than I've seen in awhile.

True, fathom, but Cleveland got a runner on first and didn't hesitate. Immediately bunted the guy to second like ALL managers do in a tie game in extra innings with no outs ... unless the batter is some big horse who simply CANNOT bunt.

Sure guys like Grady Sizemore will sacrifice themselves in the same situation. Happens all the time.

What is Pierre's #1 asset? Base stealing.

What is Beckham's #1 asset? Hitting.

So why the f*** is Beckham bunting Pierre to 2nd?! f*** YOU OZZIE!!!!!

Exactly. If Pierre isn't going to steal you bases, he should be batting ninth. Get a guy who gets on base more than him if you're going to be bunting him over anyway. And if your 2 hitter is going to be bunting, don't waste Beckham there.

Who hit the ball hard tonight? Quentin had a homer, Konerko had a line out, Jones had a line out, and AJP had a solid single. Besides that, I don't remember a single hard hit ball.

Then you weren't watching the game.

I still say it's a different ballgame in the bottom of the ninth, with nobody out and a man on first. Bunt 'em over and win the damn game. Good teams get it done.

Cleveland even went to the bunt in the exact same situation. You need one run; you don't need a rally. Bottom of the ninth; bunt him over and win the damn game. The lowly Tribe got a clutch hit with man on second; why couldn't we???

Beckham is a doubles machine. Let him swing the bat. There may be no need for anyone else to hit. Why have a worse hitter trying to get the job done? You are still going to need a hit.

Something tells me that Grady Sizmore is swinging away in the same situation.

Why exactly, can't Pierre steal second? You don't need to take the bat out of the hands of your best hitter when you have one of the "best basestealers in the game" at first base. It makes very little sense.

Maybe we didn't get any clutch hits because our best hitter was neutered by small ball.

And somehow I doubt Manny Acta would ask Grady Sizemore to bunt Asdrubel Cabrera over late in a ball game.

Please tell me then what I missed?

I think I'd rather ignore you. Clearly the Sox are going to play .300 ball from here on out and are completely terrible because of two losses in 38 degree weather. Give me a break.

There were multiple liners to center and right... including balls hit the opposite way and NOT PULLED tonight that unfortunately were caught. The Tribe, meanwhile, got many many bloop and seeing eye weak ass hits.

Things will even out, and I'm glad i won't have been the fan who bailed with 159 games to go.

Completely different situation. Valbuena isn't a base stealer and Marson is 0-for-this season.

If Pierre isn't going to be given a chance to steal in that situation, then he shouldn't even be on this team.

I just wanted to know if I missed all these tough luck rockets. Trust me, jphat and I were in chat and he's the king of talking about hard hit outs. I don't recall that tonight.

I don't think Greg is understanding the point. Bunting if it were Teahen or someone of his ilk, would be just fine. Not Beckham.

Yeah, you really just proved that you're better then us. We should have know that valid complaints were girl stuff. I'm going to go play with a barbie and talk about how cute A-Rod is.

Never said I was better than anyone, but if it helps to end the pity party/everyone sucks talk, break out the barbies and call it a night.

Don't forget the My Little Pony pajamas.

Let's look at the positives from tonight.

When absolutely necessary... Gordon Beckham sure as s*** can bunt!

Sergio Santos looked GREAT. Dare I say potential closer in the making?

Im joining the conversation late, but I am gonna be sick to my stomach if Mark Teahen is in the starting lineup tomorrow. The guy's been brutal, and imo he cost us the game tonight

At least he managed to get on base twice, only 2 other players on the team can say that. That begin said; his decision to field that bunt was f***ing brutal.

I still can't believe he grabbed that bunt that was a sure thing to go foul. Still pisses me off.
