Balta1701
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) He got us a run in the first game of the season, but after that? Of course you must get on base first in order to utilize that speed right? Even when he's gotten to 1b...we've bunted him over in situations where a SB would be useful, or if he has stolen 2b, there hasn't been any hitting to follow it up. We also haven't seen him actually look like he's distracting any pitchers while at 1b. Or really putting pressure on the defense to make a quick throw to 1b on a ground ball, leading to errors or anything.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) So far I haven't seen Pierre's speed really affect or change any games. For real. That one game where we needed to bunt him to 2nd come to mind. I thought we acquired him to make it to 2nd without a bunt.
Controlled Chaos
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) For real. That one game where we needed to bunt him to 2nd come to mind. I thought we acquired him to make it to 2nd without a bunt. That made me sick...Take the bat out of Becks hands twice....to bunt over our speedster
dyuen
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) Kotsay hurts the lineup less than Pierre. any lineup that has kotsay in it is bad
Marty34
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) any lineup that has kotsay in it is bad Same with Pierre. Problem is, Pierre will stay in the lineup much longer than he should because he's owed $8M.

caulfield12
Yeah, but $4 million isn't going to make or break the Sox. That said, Ozzie really seems to like Pierre, he's a veteran...he'll have plenty of chances to dig his own grave. And then some. They don't feature Linebrink as anything close to the primary set-up man anymore, and he makes more than Pierre. greg775
I don't think there's an ideal lineup fix with our lineup, though it has exploded in some games. It's the same as any other year. We have to hit the long ball to win, only now we don't have as many long ball threats necessarily.
