DBAHO
Cuban's out saying that the Mavs actually want another star to add to their team, and they could actually get one, if they did a sign and trade deal with Dampier's expiring contract which is not guaranteed at $13M, so who whoever acquires that can just waive him and it won't count against the cap, quite the handy trade chip. I can't see Dirk leaving Dallas just yet. FWIW, I know people on here don't like him at all, but if the Bulls want to sign a major FA, I think they only coach that they can "realistically" hire to do that would be Byron Scott, because he's really the only "name" coach out there that would probably take the job who is on the Bulls' shortlist. So to get a player, we'd hire probably one of the worse player coaches of all time. A guy who is a complete train wreck of a coach and is known to not talk to his players for weeks to months at a time if he's upset with them. No thanks. I'd rather go Brian Shaw if we can't get a big name coach. And Scott is not a big name coach.

I'd rather go Brian Shaw if we can't get a big name coach. And Scott is not a big name coach. That's the issue, guys like Casey, McHale etc. are much better coaching options than Scott, but if they hire one of the formers, is someone like Bosh going to join the Bulls instead of say Rick Adelman in Houston, or to join Wade in Miami? I absolutely agree that Scott would be a horrible choice, but he still does has some "credit" in terms of head coaching appeal I guess. Because that's basically the scenario the Bulls have put themselves in by firing VDN. It's either boom or bust here.
DBAHO
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) So here's my question of the day. If the Celtics take down the Cavs in this series, does Lebron leave? It'll certainly make things a lot more interesting. I'd still say no, but the Knicks and Clippers would be loving this. And Cleveland doesn't have any room on the cap, and they've got a pretty aging list of veterans. I think the Knicks chances with Lebron pretty much all depend on whether they can get Wade to join him, otherwise I don't think they'll get him. Steve9347
Oh God, Pax, really? "I know, I'm comfortable with who I am as a person." Get off your f***ing soapbox and resign already. Vinny being out does nothing for this franchise. Garpax is still in charge.
SoxAce
Bulls are supposedly really high on Thibodeau. Would have interviewed him 2 seasons ago, but the Celtics won the championship. Defensive minded guy who will help Rose's development in that area, though not sure about his play calling. I don't care THAT much who the Bulls hire as long as it's an up-tempo style coach which will help Derrick thrive in that offense and optimize his potential. Being a defensive coach can't hurt either. I like Corbin/Shaw myself, but I dunno if those guys are "NBA experienced" enough, though Gar said he has an open mind to anyone. Collins, Van Gundy (though controlling) Rivers and even Scott (CP3 loves him, said he helped his development when he coached, thats got to count for something) aren't bad options. Chi Town Sox
There's a decent candidate out there with a couple of years experience, Vinny Del Negro anyone?
MurcieOne
Why hasn't Tom Thibodeau ever gotten a head coaching job? It seems like he is always on the radar for a bunch of teams. Is it because he is waiting for the right job to come along and is just being picky? Given his success in Boston this seems like the likely reason. Given his success in Boston this seems like the likely reason. I think part of it is that the jobs that he was interested ended up hiring before he could go through the interview process since his team tends to play deeper into the playoffs (Boston). Chicago might have hired him back when they hired Del Negro if they ever really had the opportunity to take care of that.

SoxAce
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) 60% sure that would be yes. I actually disagree. But we don't know him. Something tells me he would stay there until he brings his hometown a championship. If he wins it this year, I think he bolts for New York (since he "did his job" in Cleveland) and helps his favorite childhood team end a 50 year title drought there unless his ego wants to overshadow/overtake MJ for the challenge. (though I don't think his balls are as big as Kobes in that regard) Thats just my opinion though. Edited May 4, 2010 by SoxAce

Lebron isnt going to share the stage with Kobe, much less have to deal with the worst owner in the history of the NBA I posted something on BullsTalk about this a while back I think, let me see if I can find what i said.... nope, thread is gone. Basically my point was LeBron has a few LEGIT options: Stay in Cleveland: They've been CLOSE enough to warrant staying Nets: No way, they just plain stink NY: Real option, with great marketing potential, but not a lot or surrounding talent Clippers: They are out for two reasons: Kobe, and dude... it's the Clippers! Miami: A real option, but I think they want Bosh to team with DWade... not that LeBron would be a bad second option Chicago: Quality supporting players in Rose, Noah, and Dang So, I have his real options down to Cleveland, Chicago, and NY. Staying in Cleveland he can get a 6 year max deal, but only 5 years with Chicago and NY. HOWEVER, he can make up the contract $$$ difference in endorsements in Chicago and NY. So, really, all three are equal money. At that points, it's about the big cities or home town loyalty.

There was an article today that compared him with the Hornets' first ever head coach. They said he was a greattttt assistant, but he just wasn't head coaching material for whatever reason. Felix
Kentucky coach John Calipari is intrigued with the Chicago Bulls’ coaching job and would be willing to listen to a pitch from management, NBA and NCAA sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday. Sources say the combination of roster talent, tradition and market make Chicago one of the few NBA jobs that could pry Calipari out of Kentucky. The Bulls have been hesitant to pay the $4 million-$5 million annual packages it would take to lure high-profile coaches like Calipari.
