TitoMB345
QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) This offense is horrible i just wonder how long this will last for Truly, I think this issue is deeper than just the players on the field. Something that probably can't be fixed within a single season. If/when someone in this organization (i.e. Jerry) decides something needs to change, I think it ends up being a large turnover. fathom
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) I dont' think leadoff hitters are allowed to drive in runs. I just get so frustrated that we let our worse hitter continue to get the most plate appearances. Sadly, I have little faith in Ozzie to ever bench or move his slappy crush from the leadoff spot. TitoMB345
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) It is probably pretty low. IIRC pitch counts have risen in modern times by a decent amount. Yeah, if this is recorded somewhere, it probably is from pre-1920s or something. It's his way, and his way only.

fathom
This is about the time we have 9 consecutive batters make an out. What's with all these feeble swings before getting 2 strikes?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Yeah, if this is recorded somewhere, it probably is from pre-1920s or something. I'm guessing there aren't really records from that era, seeing as most of the basic stats we have from then were actually compiled by people re-reading box scores. TitoMB345
Westbrook and Talbot are about to blow my mind. This is just absolute mastery at pitching. Never before have I ever seen such pure dominance in two games in a row.

TitoMB345
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Yeah CQ and PK shouldnt be swinging at mediocre fastballs down the middle! According to gameday, PK's first pitch was a sinker. Probably wrong though, or Paulie would've had to have been way under it. Also said Beckham saw 2 straight curves. TitoMB345
I wonder what Hawk is doing right now. Since hes not broadcasting the game, hes probably just freaking out. Do you think hes really like his TV personality all the time? Does anyone know him?
Soxbadger
If it was a sinker, it was a sinker right down the middle above the knees. Regardless it was going to be a strike and he may not have seen a better pitch that at bat. Its one thing if they are swinging at bad pitches out of the zone, but come on you gotta swing the bat at good pitches. CQ and PK are supposed to drive the ball and some times that means swinging at early pitches that are good to hit.

But you CAN'T let a pitcher like Westbrook have a 5 pitch inning, regardless off whether or not it was a good pitch to hit. That too is something these guys HAVE to be considering. I don't care what you say, the 5 pitch inning should never happen.
