CQ has had like 2 good games and 10 s***ty ones this year. That's not going to work from your 3 hole hitter.

He's more of a 5 hole hitter now. He's not a good overall hitter. In an ideal world, Beckham would be the #3 hitter. But you know what, in the scheme of things, Quentin isn't going to make or break this season. :lolhitting

Screw that, Quentin has to be smarter than that. STOP SWINGING AT THE FIRST PITCH! Our hitters continue to play right into the opposition's game plan. That's something Walker deserves criticism for.

This is part of the reason why baseball just doesn't top football for me. In the NFL, if you blatantly didn't listen to your coach, you would get benched. Apparently, in the MLB, whatever coaches say are just suggestions that hitters don't have to listen to if they feel they know better.

Fathom,

How do we know that the gameplan isnt "Westbrook throws easy to hit pitches early in the count, we have to jump on him"

That wasnt a great pitch, when do our hitters start to actually produce? All CQ has to do is hit the ball in the air, that should have been his #1 priority. The pitch location was down the middle and sinking, CQ has to do better than beating it into the ground.

Westbrook pitched around Beckham to set up the double play. First pitch is a low and in sinker, and Quentin chased it. If that was our game plan to chase the low and in sinker, then Walker should be fired immediately. Westbrook isn't going to strike you out, so the game plan should be "make him get the pitch up in the zone".

Bingo. SOMEONE needs to take responsibility here. We can't just throw the blame around here.

I learned in high school to take what is given to you and hit with what the situation is. 1 out, runners on the corners, I'm looking for something elevated to at least hit a fly ball. Not swing away like I have ADD or something.

The sinker wasnt low and in, go back and watch the pitch.

Its right down the middle and if CQ had the approach of trying to hit it in the air, would have easily done so.

The pitch was easily hittable and should have been put in the air. It wasnt in the dirt or anything, it was slightly below CQ's knees.

Slightly below the knees from a sinker ball pitcher is going to result in a ground ball almost all the time, especially with someone like Quentin.

The problem is that it was a below average pitch. There is a good chance that the next few pitches would have been better sinkers.

CQ has to get the job done on a pitch like that, or at worst a pop up. There is just no explanation as to how he didnt get it in the air.

Did you play the game because you have all the answers. That pitch looked hittable then had good late movement.

Fairly certain he was commenting on the makeup of the lineup, not the arrangement of it. Ozzie got exactly what he wanted.
