Minnesota Loses

The Twins are still the team to beat in the central.    :nono

Technically, yes, they are. They are reigning division champs. But if they want to win this year, they will need one more starter, atleast. Lohse has his head up his ass and can't figure s*** out(since June, his ERA has gone from about Sarah Michelle Gellar's weight to Rosie O'Donnell weight....in ERA terms of course). Mays has been demoted to the pen, Santana got roughed up a little tonight(but from what I recall, he's been quite good overall), and Reed has been somewhat inconsistent. Only Rogers and Radke have been solid, and that's all they've been.

Right now, I'd take Rogers and Radke from their rotation to help us right now(and possibly Santana too), and that's it. A #5 starter is supposed to give their team a chance to win whenever they pitch, and half of the guys that have been in their rotation this year haven't even done that on a consistent basis from June on. As far as I'm concerned, unless the Twins get another starter or two in the next two days, they are out of it.

KC is the only team that I'm scared of right now, and that's because they are in front of us in the standings. The Twins have to get back to .500 for me to be worried about them again.

Twins now basically play the teams we just played last month so don't count them out.

Like I've been saying though...Sox need to take care of their business one game at a time.  If they do that i think all of us will be very happy.

exactly right-

we are ina great position to take cae of everything we need by taking it one game at a time and not worryng at al about what teams are doing while remembering this is still a 3 way race - today's name was important to set the tone for what lays ahead, as well as establish that Manuel has more guts and desire to win than anyone generally acknowledges - putting White in at the first opportunity, i.e., when the game was RickWhiteProof, shows that Manuel has a better way than most people think of dealing with s***

I think the Twins are done. Ownership won't make any more moves to help them, and they are above average only in defense and in the bullpen. Their offense is garbage, and so is their starting rotation. They're starting to not play as hard either, and things that went their way last year all the time are not this year, i.e. Daubach's double off the light fixture, and whoever that pitcher was that threw the ball down the third base line yesterday.

I would not call there Bullpen above average. Especially with Santana out of there. Right now besides Hawkins, I would call it below average.

Yah, I forgot they moved Carlos Santana into the starting rotation. Romero, Hawkins and Guardado are still pretty good tho'.

I'd take any of them over the 2003 version of Billy Koch
