I just found out about the Schoenwies trade...........WANTED to hear some opinons.......IS he now our 5th starter?

BE GOOD

EDIT: check the spellin on Schoenwis

As far as I know he's gonna be in the pen...Probably better off that way...The numbers say he's a better reliever then starter. I think Kenny has got 1 more deal up his sleeve...

I really dont' see how any could vote 'bad' for this trade, glover didn't do s*** and we didn't give any of our huge prospects, it's a nice little upgrade. Kenny's been doing an awesome job this year, he forgot one thing though.....FIRE MANUEL!

voting bad for this is easy.. who in our pen does s*** anyhow???? why give up any of the future pitching we have down below.. (you know its gonna cost us the few good ones we have)....for a piece of crap like schow.. we already have enough guys sitting around on their asses taking on oneseys and twoseys at a time... f*** it.......glover was no worse than schow now it cost us a few minor players we may need later....this is the dumbest s*** trade that could have been done thus far.......

LOL... This is one of those middle-of-the-road trades. Sox didn't win, Sox didn't lose. The best reason I can see for doing this is that Glover was in the doghouse and the Sox were actively trying to dump him. The last time we did that, though, we ended up trading Keith Foulke for Billy Koch. Hmmm... As for the prospects involved, it's really moot. None of them are anything and probably will never amount to anything. Though, the guy we got, Nickels ( ) is intriguing. While he is 28, he has an ERA under 2 (IIRC) pitching in the PCL, a league that is notoriously hitter-friendly.

Water under the bridge. When was the last time Shoenweis started a game? Anyone getting revisitations of Sean Lowe?

They gave up basically nothing on the minor league front. Bittner is nothing while Dunn is older for AA but he does have a good arm. BUt how many other guys in the minors in the majors have good arms and never make it.

Nickle and Dunn are a wash. Scho is better then Glover.

Jason, you're a bit hard on Bittner, aren't you?

Will someone tell me why the Angels made the trade.

I was wondering the same thing, because its not like Show is an old guy. But I think the reason is becaue he wanted to start and they would not let him.

BTW you can never have enough lefties.

in polls like this we need more options, categories, perspectives -

I hate to see Glover go and I my views are rather along the lines of HSC's but I don't want to vote negative either because I want it all to work out

I am still unsure what we are gaining here in this trade - how does this help our club and make it better than it was before the trade -

It gives us another LH in the pen. And next year he will become a starter, so we will have 2 maybe 3 lefties in the rotation. I think its a good trade because you can't have to many LH pitchers. This will help us with teams like the Twins, M's, A's, Yankees, and Red Sox. All having players that can beat us Lefthanded.

thanks Joel for the answer - something to think about -

what are Schoenweis' stats for this season thus far?

I don't know if he has started this year, but i do know he started in 2001 and 2002. If I remember correctly he was a better starter in 01 then 02. Jason or some of the other west coast people would know more about this.

sho has started 74 games in his career and i believe he was the angels opening day starter in 2001. he didnt have too impressive of numbers as a starter with an era around 5.......in the sun times he is quoted "....now maybe ill be able to do there what i wanted to do here" ........going back to the rotation maybe? kw said he has a shot next spring traingin

I think it is a great trade. We didn't give up anything and got another solid lefty for the pen that can go more than one or two hitters and can pitch to both rightys and leftys. Also, He was part of a world series winner last year and I will take that experience in a player when that is your goal.

Glover was OK but the one stat htat is awful is last he is last in the league in runners inherited scoring. 50% of the runners on base when he came in ended up scoring. that is not good. This trade can only help. I am anxious to see what else KW has in mind.
