iamshack
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 20, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) Isn't it amazing how in the last 2 years we never have had a significant winning streak? Even if we started playing winning baseball, it'd take us to the all-star break probably just to reach .500. Greg, this is your best post here at Soxtalk. Well done. dmbjeff
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 20, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) Well said, How could anybody argue with that? Isn't it amazing how in the last 2 years we never have had a significant winning streak? Even if we started playing winning baseball, it'd take us to the all-star break probably just to reach .500. Often it takes a string of strong pitching performances to reel off a long win streak. Rarely do you see final scores of 7-6,9-5,12-8, etc as part of a long win streak, you see alot more 5-3, 6-2, 4-1 type ball games for teams who are streaking. While our pitching as a whole has been much better than the offense, they don't seem to be stringing enough good start together in a row. Buehrle and Floyd have been pathetic the first month and a half. With 2 of 5 guys pitching like crap, it is impossible to go on a streak, especially with an anemic offense. I know the offense catches alot of heat from all of us posters and rightfully so, but other teams with bad offenses are winning and it is because of good pitching. Hopefully something change in the next month for this team on both sides of the ball. If this team is the same after the Cubs series, that is when the firesale will happen I believe. elrockinMT
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) Just bring in Hrniak and see if he can help Gordon or CQ. Either they are not listening to the current voice, or the current voice is not fixing the issue. Stone keeps talking about a specific way they are pitching Gordon, and we see quotes about everything is fine with Gordon's swing its just a mental battle. Whatever, at the point we have 3 young players and all are not hitting. If you are not replacing Walk then bring him in some help. I have always been an advocate of Walt Hriniak
greg775
I liked Walt, too. One summer I even started batting the way he preached in softball. Good way to hit hard grounders.
kitekrazy
QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ May 21, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) The sad part is that there is no one in the minors to bring up to replace anyone on this team. and....no money for top free agents That I have no problem with. greg775
Beckham another 0-fer tonight but we win 8-0. Maybe he'll be the hero Saturday. He's 1 for his last 13 now and five for his last 40. That has got to be humbling as we storm toward June.
hammerhead johnson
Don't worry, he's gonna wake up any day now. 37 extra-base hits in 300 post-July 1st ABs last season. No extra-base hits in his last 80 ABs. This s*** ain't gonna last for long.

whitesoxfan101
He had two hard hit outs, a single, and very narrowly missed a home run last night. He's looked better at the plate the last few days, hopefully it's a sign.
hammerhead johnson
On a positive note, at least I can find Beckham jerseys for outrageously low prices these days. Keep your head up - always look for the positives. I'm a glass-is-half-full type of guy.

Sometimes, the glass is half full because somebody drank half of your drink and then spiked it with a date rape drug while you were in the bathroom. As long as it was the 2009 version of Gordon doing so, I won't mind.
