SoxFan562004
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Problem with the 3 of them going to the Heat is that they would have no money left. It would be the 3 of them and 9 other guys on minimum contracts. 2 superstars, one all star and a bunch of D-leaguers. One injury and that team goes to crap. Everyone was arguing that it was always Lebron on 5 in Cleveland, well, it potentially is Lebron and Wade (or Bosh) on 5, which is nearly as bad. These guys aren't THAT good, especially against teams with other all star calibar players. IMO Lebron/Rose/Noah/Boozer/Deng + bench is nearly as good as Lebron/Wade/Bosh/nobody/nobody and a nobody bench. OK, but one can still defend him opting to go to Miami, the other teams aren't really defendable. I think he wanted to go to NYK or the Nets really bad, that's where he wants to be, however, even with Amar'e to the NYK he and his people don't think it's enough at this point and the Nets aren't there either. He stays with the Cavs for the 3 years and this fiasco starts again and LBJ hopes one of those two teams is in a better spot. (Although I still say there's a small chance he says the Knicks tomorrow)
SoxFan562004
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) Watching any sport is supposed to be entertainment. So you're saying if the Sox couldn't win a championship, but kept on getting to the ALDS or maybe the ALCS once or twice, you'd rather be the worst team in baseball instead of that? completely different sport and structure both in salary and competition, if the White Sox got to those positions they automatically have a chance to win a WS, the Bulls can continually get to the playoffs as a mid to low seed for the next 5 years and maybe even pull an upset or two in the East, but still be very far away from winning an NBA title. Cardinals from '06, i believe, are a good example of a team scraping into the playoffs and everything working right for them and they win a WS, Marlins have never won a division but have won 2 WS titles, however when's the last "out of nowhere" NBA team that won a title? I'll take an Eastern Conference Finals caliber team right now. It's a whole lot better than what we've had. And there is always hope of making a Finals appearance. s*** can happen. Nice to be in a position to capitalize when that s*** happens. Like Wade breaking his leg or Bosh receiving an elbow from Noah breaking his nose in 3 places. The nba is just different. I feel comfortable saying chris paul will never win an nba championship on the hornets. Good but not great team, you just don't get lucky in the nba, in fact, they even extended the playoffs to make sure "lucky" didn't happen. Even the underdog "pistons" had 1 great player in billups, good player in rip, and some great defensive players, and then added sheed, etc.

Miami drafted 4 guys in the early 2nd round IIRC, and there'll be some veterans who'll play on the minimum in Miami in order to win a champiosnhip e.g Raja Bell

I think I was just so sick of what I saw for 5 years from 1999 to 2004 that I don't ever want to go back to that again, that's no entertainment. That said, the Bulls do need to play this smart. They have to have enough to re-sign Rose and Noah.

Yeah, we probably won't be offering too much bc I'm sure LeBron was the only way JR would pay the luxury tax, most attendance in the last 10 years be damned. DrunkBomber
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Well if he wants to win titles than you can easily defend him signing with the Heat, but between the Cavs, Knicks, Bulls and Nets I agree with you. If he went to the Bulls or Heat that team becomes an immediate title contender assuming the Bulls got Boozer/Lee. However in Miami he will never be "the man" and probably wont be in the conversation with MJ/Kobe when its all said and done. Look at Scottie Pippen, he led the Bulls deep in the playoffs without MJ and is considered one of the best all around players of all time but he is always in Jordans shadow. Kobe knew he had to win without Shaq to seal his legacy and he has and people are throwing him into the conversation for the best of all time now. Some people might not see the relevance of this but if Ive learned anything the past few weeks its that LeBrons ego is driving him. Chicago is such a unique opportunity because it has the 2 most vital positions, pg and c, secured with Noah and Rose who are in their early 20s. Theyre also both young enough where LeBron could come in and run the show without stepping on their toes. Lets say he stays in Cleveland. They arent winning anything with their roster, not to mention how much the power has shifted in the east. He will end up like Kevin Garnett jumping teams in his early 30s to get his ring or two before he reitres. A situation I think people might be overlooking is the Knicks if he truly believes they can get Mello or Tony Parker or both next year. Hed get the Knicks in the playoffs net year and then have the potential to add another superstar next offseason. Thats obviously much riskier but its still a viable option. We know he likes NY. I know ESPN has basically ruled out Chicago but they have proved time and time again they have zero idea what theyre talking about. I will wait and see what happens but if he doesnt sign here guess what, Hawks are Stanley Cup Champs, Sox are on fire and one game out and the Bears got Julius Peppers. I can live without the NBA right now.
