How the Bulls not offering everything possible, with the exception of DROSE, to acquire dwight isn't being even mentioned is completely beyond me...

I can only fantasize about a team built around DROSE and dwight. Nothing else could compete with miami in terms of talent.

All of the talk should be this, NOT the knicks trying to acquire cp3 or howard to teams like the nets, clippers, or lakers(!).

But alas, we get news about Bulls management showing interest in arron afflalo and mike miller and nick young and moving c.j. watson to shooting guard and even scalabrine (yuck)...

I guess all we can do is pray every night that the Bulls were able to "luck" into drafting Rose because Bulls management does not seem capable of ever making a top-tier acquisition to help DROSE in building a true championship-caliber team rather than merely a contender, given the current NBA landscape...

Where's the hype to actually make it happen?!

Because it has been rumored that Howard wants nothing to do with Chicago. Makes no sense chasing somebody that doesn't want to play here.

Marc Stein reports: "Sources told ESPN.com that the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, despite possessing no cap space to bid for the 26-year-old swingman (Arron Afflalo), will continue to press the Nuggets to see if they’re amenable to sign-and-trade discussions."

Even if they wind up being unable to get them, it's nice to see the Bulls targeting guys who could legitimately make a difference.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau wouldn't elaborate when asked Thursday about the importance of finding another player who can create his own shot off the dribble.

"The thing is, when you look at the strengths and weaknesses of our team, we have some guys on our roster who are capable of doing that," Thibodeau said. "You're always looking for guys that can create shots and break defenses down, particularly in the playoffs. And hopefully that's something that everybody improves upon."

I like TT quite a bit. But the bold is ridiculous. It will be even more ridiculous if the Heat can land one of Prince/Battier as has been rumored.

where did you hear that?

Can not link a specific quote, or article off the top of my head but if you do enough digging around and reading on various NBA boards (like RealGM) it seems pretty clear that he isn't interested in playing here. If he really wanted to be here we have enough assets to give Orlando a nice (maybe not best in the world) package of players & picks. If he really wanted to be here, somewhere someplace we'd have heard just that by now, especially with the shoe connection with Rose. But hey, it is only rumors, and we all know how reliable they are.

Pay attention to the 2nd half of the quote. That's a complete non-answer answer. He's not spilling anything.

I'd be more worried if they got an upgrade at PG or a center that doesn't do things like this:

The wing is the one place they're fairly set with Lebron/Wade playing 40 minutes a game and Miller around as well (at least in theory).

I must be the only Bulls fan who doesn't want to gut the roster for Dwight Howard. Much rather get Arron Afflalo without having to lose Noah, Deng and Gibson while being forced to absorb Hedo Turkoglu.

You're not terribly likely to get Afflalo for the MLE since Denver can match any offer and has a ton of cap space.

Clearly the teams out there know that, which is why the phrase "Sign and trade" is involved.

Okay, so then you have to give up an actual asset in order to convince Denver to give up a guy that they supposedly like.

I guess I'll post it before someone else does: Noah, Charlotte's pick, another first rounder and whatever salary filler is needed. I think they'd probably demand adding a Deng/Turkoglu swap until they get desperate unfortunately.

Best offer I've seen mooted so far is the Clippers offering Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman + MIN's unprotected 2012 1st rounder.

Don't think the Bulls could beat that, even with including Noah.

EDIT: And I've also seen the names of DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe mooted.

I'd be very surprised if Gordon is included, though some of those other pieces are nice (especially that Minny pick in what should be a loaded draft).

Plus they have a couple of guys overseas that are stuck in contracts (unless this has been cleared up and I haven't seen). I don't see the motivation for them to move him.

There are a ton of teams that would love Afflalo, but I don't know why Denver would move him.

Or maybe the guys I'm thinking of were all free agents and I'm full of s***. This is why you don't make posts after 2 AM.

I don't think we'll be ready to talk trade unless Gordon is a part of it. Just don't think Howard would choose the Clippers if he got to FA.

I saw one proposal going like this;

S&T: DeAndre Jordan(notes), Send Kaman's expiring contract, superstar Eric Gordon(notes), Minnesota's first round pick (which the Clippers own) and the Clippers own first round pick. Plus, absorb the three year albatross contract of Magic swingman Hedo Turkoglu(notes).

That would be enough for me. It would give the Magic an expiring contract, help them shed Hedo, they could later ax Arenas via the amnesty, let Kaman expire, and go after a top tier free agent (Kevin Love, anyone?) in the summer of 2012.

Pairing Eric Gordon and DeAndre Jordan with Kevin Love(notes) would give the Magic a nice trio of young stars. Love is only 23, Gordon is is about to turn 23, and Jordan is 23 as well.

The Magic aren't getting Gordon if they want the T-Wolves pick, which is their best chance to get Drummond.

For now, it is Paul on the market. Howard’s on deck. The New Jersey Nets will have a package of Brook Lopez and picks available for the Magic, enticing Howard with Deron Williams and a new Brooklyn arena to call his own. What’s more, the Chicago Bulls are still a sleeper for Howard, several league executives believe. “Chicago may tell Orlando to take any two players – or three – besides [Derrick] Rose,” one GM said. Howard isn’t keen on the cold weather, but the Bulls would have the best point guard-center combination since Magic and Kareem.
