HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Chris_Broussard Chris Broussard Dwight Howard met with NJ owner Mikhail Prokhorov & GM Billy King Thurs night in Miami, sources say. Orlando was unaware if meeting yea... I'm pretty sure he cant do that...
Steve9347
Dwight Howard's meeting with Mikhail Prokhorov will kill this trade. There's absolutely no way the NBA can allow teams to meet with players who are under contract. There is no telling what could have been discussed in that meeting. They basically sold him on the whole Brooklyn plan, while other teams (The Bulls, for instance), playing by the rules had no such chance. Dwight is back in play. Steve9347
By the way, the NBA is a complete mess right now. On the day teams can start practicing, they might just have to shut things down for a day or two to get everything resolved. This is all f***ing crazy. ZoomSlowik
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Recap: Hornets losing Paul would rather get than 3 good players for him than nothing. This trade was stopped because people didn't want the Lakers to improve, not because it was bad for the Hornets. The Nuggets were in the same situation with Carmelo and they got far less (Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, and Timofey Mozgov), but that trade didn't get blocked. On the court it's more talent, but age is a big factor since New Orleans killed any chance of competing for at least 3 years by trading Paul. Scola is 31, Odom is 32 and Martin is 28. They're going to have to reload a few years because none of those guys is a young piece you can rebuild around. The Nuggets on the other hand got Gallinari (23), Chandler (24) and Mozgov (25). Those guys were also cheaper, the trio New Orleans got makes almost $30 million combined.
Steve9347
NYDNInterNets Stefan Bondy SOURCE: Nets are closing in on Nene after upping the offer last night. Went hard after the center after Chandler went to the Knicks Clearly the Nets, knowing they are busted, are moving on to Nene. They cannot get Dwight now. Someone tell D-Rose and C-Booz to give Dwight a call, eh?
Steve9347
If the other team that tampered is the Lakers, the Bulls have literally become the only remaining viable suitor for Dwight Howard.

Steve9347
Warriors guard Charlie Bell was taken into custody Thursday after showing up to court legally drunk for a hearing on his - get this - drunken driving case. Bell was held in a holding cell until he "sobered up" after blowing a .09 and is expected back in court on Friday. Bell was arrested in Flint Township on Oct. 21 for drunken driving, driving on a suspended license and failing to stop at a stop sign, and has already been suspended for the first regular season game. If Paul just walks after this season, they have even less chance of competing because their only strategy will be "hope you luck into someone awesome in the lottery". Jack/Martin/Odom/Scola/Okafor is at least a respectable team. There are always going to be different strategies that teams can take. Trying to stay relevant VS starting from scratch. Youth VS veterans. Project players VS known quantities. Some people may not like the direction Demps took (though many do and I've yet to hear some great alternative), but it should have been his right to make it. This trade was not unreasonable. I hear you, but I think they are viewed as assets, not something to build your team around. There would be good interest on competing teams for all of those players.
