Joe Johnson expected to re-sign with Atlanta for max deal. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Apt9...agentbuzz063010

Thank you! I want no part of Joe Johnson. Not that he's a bad player. But he's about to get severely overpaid. You're not winning jack with a 2nd-tier SG as your #1 option. Ask the Bucks how they feel about Michael Redd.

I saw a rumor about Jefferson that he's gay and they kind of found out about it in San Antonio, which is part of why he wants to get out of town. It's certainly sketchy as to if that's true (I think those rumors actually started last summer), but even with the lockout potentially coming, it makes no sense for him to opt out of 15 million dollars next year. I'd be surprised if the TOTAL for the deal he ends up signing is even 15 million.

There's been rumors about Jefferson being gay for 5 years now...and then there was the bizarre wedding cancellation with him.

The bizarre wedding cancellation was last summer I believe, which is the first time I saw the rumors. I didn't know they went back as far as 5 years though.

i think the wade to chicago chances are better than most think...especially if they can get a big man also

If Miami can't get him any help (which is possible, but not likely), I think he'd leave and Chicago would be the leader. I think Miami will at least be able to get him a decent guy like a Boozer though, and that'd be enough incentive for him to stay there, because he really doesn't want to leave.

Gooden signed a 5/32 deal with the Bucks.

Think they're overpaying on that one.

If they can sign Salmons, they'll have quite a deep team going into next season though if Bogut can get back to 100%.

In the end there's two major hurdles for the Bulls or Nets (or any other potential suitor): (1) money and (2) his "hometown" connection. To me it's like growing up near Comiskey, being a huge Sox fan, being drafted and playing for good Sox teams, and then being offered to go to a team like the Yankees that could potentially offer you a better chance at a title (but no guarantee) but also a lot less money. I don't think it's a slam dunk that you leave.

I thought he grew up a fan of the Bulls and Jordan more than the Cavs.

Drew Gooden's not good enough to deserve a 5 year deal...

The Bucks would be the favorites in the Central next year by a wide margin if LeBron went to, say, the Nets, and the Bulls struck out in free agency. Not likely, but you never know.

No they wouldn't. They've added CDR and Gooden. The Bulls were a 5 seed in the East before Rose got banged up and Noah went down with the PF. Although this depends on what "strike out" means. They have to get SOMEONE.

Well my assumption of favorites was based on a true Bulls strikeout, and the idea that the Bucks keep Salmons (although I suppose that's a big assumption). If the Bulls strike out in free agency and Lebron leaves Cleveland, both teams are going to have to fight just to make the playoffs IMO.

That's a pretty dumb argument. Look at teams like the early 90's Blazers or the Malone-Stockton Jazz or the early 2000's Kings or the Mavs/Suns of the last 5 years. Regular season success and ultimately winning it all are two entirely different things. Cleveland has been exposed not once but three times (2007 Finals) in the last 4 years. Yeah, they can win 55-60 games in their sleep (the East sucks). But they can't contend with the elite. And there's really no legitimate reason to believe they'll be able to get the cast around Lebron required to get to that next step anytime soon.

Edit: nope, nm i was wrong. I was going to say that they've been to the last three conference finals, but it's 2 of the last 4. Still, Clevelands best argument is that they're not that far away, and haven't been the last few years.

The cast of characters around Lebron really isn't good at all. The fact that they've done all that they have with them is the best argument the Bulls (or the Heat I suppose if Wade stays) can make.

They've tried and failed miserably at getting that legit #2 man to pair with Lebron. Larry Hughes? Fail. Mo Williams? Fail. Antwan Jamison? Fail. And they've lacked athletes and multi-skill players for as long as Lebron has been there. The reason they've had the success they've had is because they play in a clearly inferior conference. If they were in the West, they'd be an annual 6-8 seed every year.

If Lebron stays in Cle it will only be for 3 years to give them one last ditch effort and pulling something off, but with that roster and the lack of flexibility if he stays the next 3 years will be similar to his other years there.
