VAfan
After JM gave Rick the rope to hang himself Tuesday, and he did it properly by giving up 3 runs after 2 outs and no one on, is that the last game we will see Rick White in a Sox uniform?? Personally, I thought Rick White should have been on the bubble coming out of Spring Training. And his early season numbers confirmed that. Then he righted himself for a stretch, but is now back to being at best a "mystery" pitcher -- you have no idea what you are going to get when he comes in. I don't think we can afford more than 1 mystery pitcher out of the pen down the stretch. (We're stuck with Billy Koch.) So my vote would be to give him back to the Cardinals or cut him and keep Matt Ginter or acquire another arm instead. We should know by the trade deadline, or by Saturday at the latest when the Sox seem sure to bring up Danny Wright for the #5 hole.
Soxplosion
Trade or sell him to the Scrubs. Kill two birds with one shot...

I think KW would be hard pressed to find a team that would take Rick White. If he can though, and get something decent in return, I'm all for it. Adding another righty for the pen would be especially sweet.
SweetJfour
I'm a bit of a Cardinal's fan as well and I can tell you that based on what I saw from Rick White in the playoffs last year, I really would hate to see Rick White on this roster if we're playing in the postseason. After what he said, send him to Detroit or something they could use the help.
Wong & Owens
I was a big Rick White supporter through Spring Training and through his rough start to the reg season, and was ready to tell all the RW naysayers to stick it until his last three outings. He almost got out of that inning yesterday unscathed--Alomar could have made that play on the grounder hit to his right--but I think at this point, given his performances and his mouth he has to go. I'm just worried about who would take his place. If we get Sullivan, or someone else that's decent, by all means cut his hairy ass.

The only problem with that is had Rick White made it out of that inning, you probably would have seen Billy Kroch come in with a six run lead. We all remember what happened last time Kroch pitched against Kansas City. Homeplate turned into a turnstyle 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 runs!!!
whitesox247
I'd be more than happy with some decent minor leagueres for him.
upnorthsox
Unless we make a trade in which I'd just cut him to make room, I'd keep him and send Willie down when Wright comes up. We have a stretch of 25 games in 26 days coming up and we can use an extra arm in the pen alot more than we can an extra runner on the basepaths. Soxplosion
Demote him, let him rot in AAA. And sweetJ, youre a Sox fan with the Cards as your second team? When I was like 8 I used to like the Sox, Cubs and Mets but I really didnt watch and root for the other teams. I kinda hoped for them to win but I only really cared about the Sox. If the Sox lost, I was pissed!
SweetJfour
I'd prefer the idea of signing a fifth starter or using Schoenwies as a starter and having Dan Wright in the bullpen. I just don't have a whole lot of confidence with Wright as a starter at this point. Puts too much pressure on the offense.
Wong & Owens
Wright only has two pitches, I don't know why they keep pushing for him to be a starter. Unless he develops a 3rd pitch, he needs to work out of the bullpen.
Jim Fainter
I saw White last year in Colorado. Lots of line drives. I doubt if we could trade him, because most teams know there is a good chance we will cut him, so they can get him for free.
SweetJfour
Good cut him, the prick has no right to be running his mouth the way he does. Bring up Wright for middle relief or to start. Just make sure you have Schoenweis available on that day if Wright struggles.

Ginter did have the better ST and White made the 25 player roster only on rep. It is now time for performance. I'd much rather see Ginter go into a game than White, unless we have a 17 run lead and it is 8th inning.

If the Sox lost, I was pissed! I don't think we can just send him to AAA. I think he's been in the league too long. He would have to clear waivers first, and someone would probably pick him up. That's what I'd do -- just try to send him to the minors, and hopefully someone will pick him and his contract up. If not, just release him and cut your losses. Thankfully, he's "only" making like $500,000 or something like that, I believe.
