Real
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 30, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) No, I agree with this. I'm one of the few who likes this roster, but I'll admit, it's time to put up or shut up. Splitting series is not acceptable if we expect to get back into the race. We need to start beating teams, even if they are teams we are not necessarily supposed to beat, if we do indeed want to get ourselves back in this race. A split to me was disappointing. yup, agree 100% sucks that it's the situation they are in now, but that's their own fault for sucking all year long
kapkomet
The only thing that is going to help is a 18-8 ish type of June. And we'd still be at least 5 games out. You gotta get it under 5 games before July 1, then you give yourself a chance. They are starting to come out of it, yet, as many of you have said, they stunk so bad coming out of the gate that it's going to take at least .600 to catch up. greg775
I guess, perhaps people who don't have a realistic vision on what's needed to actually catch up to the twins might take a split A split w/ the Rays would mean something if we were tied with the Twins or maybe a couple games out, but we're flirting with 6-8 games back. When you get to that kind of deficit, you can't say "Well I'll take a split", because .500 isn't good enough when you're in that kind of hole. This team dug itself into an early grave and splitting 4 game series and going win/loss/win/loss/win/loss/loss/loss/win/loss all year isn't going to do s***. I think some people need to think more realistic about what kind of situation the Sox are in, they absolutely HAVE to play .600+ ball the rest of the year to, IMO, even stand a chance at winning the division flame away You need a holiday beer to spread some cheer. A split with the Rays was fine. You can't expect to go in there and win the series. They have a much better team than ours and were playing at home. A split was GREAT. The problem is we have to win series after series against the teams in our division mostly and not play like crap against KC and Cleveland. This series was fine. Most of our series have sucked. maki
.600 from here on out gets us to 89 wins on the season, and we'll have to actively contribute to quite a few losses for the twins to make sure 89 would get it done. when kenny gave the last proclamation of 60 games we were through about 40. At that point I figured in his eyes it'd take 12-8 over 20 to not be sellers, with going at least 5-5 in the first ten. Taking 4 games back in getting to .500 is nothing to sneeze at, but i'm sure we'd be in a more favorable situation going into game 60 if kenny saw they could run off 5 in a row or 8 out of 10 because you'll have to do that 1-2 times to be able to play .600 ball over 112 games. A major dilemma for kenny is the fact that one of his pieces to deal, at least as a salary shed, is on the clock. He's not going to have the liberty of waiting until the deadline to show his hand. About the worst result would be to go 6-4 again here, aj goes 5/10, then we stink again. we need to start stealing a game here and there and there was probably one more to be had this series, even if it was on the road against the rays. ThunderBolt
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) After today, only him and Gordo are below .200. Still there's a pretty big disparity in the amounts of at-bats that Nix gets compared to these guys. I'm not saying he's proven he's deserve those ab's, it just needs to be factored in. You and Balta are right, but no way this Sox team could be expected to win more than two in Tampa. No f***ing way. Now lets make some noise in series we are capable of making noise in and maybe we'll talk about Tampa and NY and Minnie series later. Two of four at TB was monumental. elrockinMT
QUOTE (The Beast @ May 30, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) Anyone else a bit concerned with Peavy? He had some good innings, but he has to do better for sure. It does make you wonder and worry some for sure

They need to turn it on in June regardless.
