CSF
From his Twitter page: Getting to Chi could not be hardr flight cancll, switch to another flight delay 2 hours back to Charlotte. So can't fly out til tomorrow. about 2 hours ago via Echofon BSLillibridge Brent Lillibridge I would assume that Teahen is DL-bound then. As long as he can keep up the hitting, meh. knightni
Perhaps they are bringing him up for the home stand while they see how Teahen reacts to playing with the injury. If Teahen is fine, he'll go back.

Because frankly, neither does Gordon right now. I'd rather see Lillibridge or Nix play second right now than Omar Vizquel. At some point, we have to concern ourselves with Beckham's overall development.

iamshack
QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) I agree with you about the development of Beckham See my last post in the "Beckham is Back" thread. Would our treatment of Beckham be excusable if he had not experienced the success he did last season? What level of success (or how long a sustained period of success in the major leagues) does one have to achieve before his further develpment becomes a concern? Does the success Gordon had over 300 PAs last season mean the organization can expose him as much as they want for the benefit of the MLB club? I agree with you, as we've had a few players in the past have a good first year only to fall off the face of the planet in the years to come. Quentin is in a position to follow this pattern, and unfortunately, you never know about Beckham also.

Quentin is in a position to follow this pattern, and unfortunately, you never know about Beckham also. I think you need to take it on case-by-case basis. Quentin does not strike me as a player that would benefit by going down. He has a lot more experience in the minor leagues and more sustained success in the major leagues than Beckham. But that is certainly something reasonable minds can disagree about. I certainly would not be upset if Quentin was sent down to try and work out mechanical issues. I simply do not have the requisite knowledge/grasp on their situations to criticize how they are handled.

Even though I swear it wasn't me who posted on Beckham's facebook, it's discouraging that he's disagreeing he's opening up too early. All he has to do is watch one at bat of his, and he'll see that he's not staying closed long enough.

I totally agree with you. As someone else said, Maybe Beckam and Vizquel are showing "as of now" that they don't belong on the major league roster either..........................But.............. at least they have shown that they could play at that level at some point and time. We have called Gradeschool "Loserbridge" up numerous times, and he continually shows that in the batters box, he's about as useful as Prince Fielder eating in a vegetarian bar. If someone has to get sent down, or to replace Teahan, there has got to be somebody else that we can call up for a short period of time. I don't think that I can take "Round # 6 call-up " of his famous 'Strike out" or WEAK Ground ball to the shortstop" You can put the baseball on a tee-ball stand, have the entire opposing team sit on the bench, and Lillibridge still wouldn't be able to get on base!. I'd rather see a young, non prospect (anymore) struggle up here as he provides entertainment for me personally than these veterans being paid millions to suck and be boring. Plus he really got a bad rap for only 95 at-bats no matter how over-matched he was at the time. He is bad no doubt, but he'll fit right in with this team this season. What do you expect him to do in the year 2010? He's checking his facebook and all those nifty "social media" sites like other people do. He said he killed the post off his facebook. SoxAce
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) Meh, I'm too selfish. I don't blame ya. It is nice to see a top prospect (no matter how weak our farm is) in AA (especially with that Barons team) do well. Lets wait till we see the results in AAA however before we put Morel into the picture.
