chw42
I'll just let the pictures talk for themselves. The best hitting outfielder (or best outfielder in general) in the AL isn't even in the top 15 in voting. Uh huh... Real
Sox players are never really mentioned or, hell, noticed nationally. Even when Q was going apes*** in 2008... rarely heard a blurb about him until he fought his bat and the bat won. This isn't surprising, but it is unfortunate
chetkincaid
Curtis Granderson has been hurt. Brett Gardner... really?? And who the hell is Julio Borbon?

KipWellsFan
True, but can't he be chosen by Girardi?
chetkincaid
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) True, but can't he be chosen by Girardi? Yeah I think Rios makes the team easily, but I also think he should be in the conversation when it comes to starting... especially more than Granderson, Gardner, or this Borbon dude. That's where the fans come into play. We as fans need to make sure that Rios gets as many votes as possible.
Balta1701
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) True, but can't he be chosen by Girardi? He will be. Who else on this roster deserves to be an all star? (now that D1 has fallen back in the ERA race)
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) True, but can't he be chosen by Girardi? Of course. But he's starter worthy. Rios' May: .344/22/8/18/.406/.700/1.106 7 for 9 in stolen bases. Well above average defense at a premium position. Alex Rios, for all intents and purposes, has been the best all-around player in baseball to this point.

He's hitting .236. He was pretty good in a short stint with them last year though. I think the Rangers are making the fans stuff the ballot boxes, to the point where they get a prize for stuffing it a lot. Kind of like what the Brewers have been doing. How do you think Rickie Weeks is in the top 5 in 2B voting? I think the Phillies might be doing something similar. That kind of stuff really pisses me off, since this game actually counts for something.

Cali
I'll probably never vote on another all-star ballot until the MLB changes the rules or the name of the game....They are beyond ridiculous. The game can't be "for the fans", and "count"... You gotta choose one or the other.
chw42
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) For 2 teams. But right now, we don't know who those two teams will be. Any division leader could be one of those two teams, along with a lot of second place teams. I think it is a very important matter to at least half the teams in baseball. This way, the fans get the best game and the best league wins the game. Edited June 1, 2010 by chw42
Cali
Also it seems like the White Sox just don't have a lot of fans. You're saying the Rangers and Brewers stuff the boxes all the time. We Sox fans are the nerdy kind on a message board who call for stuffing (this thread included) and can barely crack a top 15 with the votes, what does that say about the fanbase? (P.S. I do realize the irony of me saying we dont have enough fans while just having said i wont vote....)

We just right now haven't gotten enough reason to start caring. Go on a 10 game winning streak and I might suddenly find motivation to start GOTV efforts. Ended up voting voting for Casey McGehee and Yadier Molina over Miguel Olivo. Sheesh AL's going to be better again. EDIT: And yah, everyone should just vote once. I'm not down with all this ballot stuffing nonsense. And it works against people like me who actually take the time to properly think through a ballot. Anyways, back to worrying about something that means something. Edited June 1, 2010 by KipWellsFan

The fan base comes out, and I can honestly say I think that SoxTalk and WSI helped that along. Get a few thousand crazies voting a few thousand times, and telling their friends to do ths same, and it can make a difference.

Cali
I just dont understand why the fanbase can come out for the final vote which is basically a back-up with no guarantee of actual playing time, but not for one of our guys to actually start the game? What's the issue? Apathy? Until the field can be narrowed down for only a few guys for one spot we wont vote? (hint, hint, that's one of the changes I want for the normal ballot)
